When my husband brought Dixie home for the first time, to be truthful I was not very happy. Not because she is an apbt. I have four kids, each has there own health problems. So time for a new puppy was something I did not have. The kids fell in love with her before we got her in the house , so finding a new owner was now out of the question. Dixie is now 5 months old and very much part of the family in ever way. As I said before each child has a health problem. My oldest girl Chasse has “growing Pains” for the ones that don’t know what that is , it is when your bones are growing and you can fell it, it is very painful. Chasse has them in her legs. There is no way of knowing when the pain will hit.( until now) Dixie has became the family miracle dog. I first notice this when the kids was out side playing. Dixie was playing and running around with every one. But soon she started acting funny. Only wanted to be with Chasse, whining, running to me then to Chasse . This went on for about 15 min or so, Then Chasse hit the ground. Screaming in pain. Dixie was right there by her side. I carried Chasse in the house, Dixie close behind. Gave her meds, Then lade her on the bed, trying to get her to let me put I heating pad on her legs. Dixie then layed on Chasse legs, Chasse let her. This just blew me away. Chasse will not let you touch her legs, but she is letting Dixie lay on them. Dixie got up after 20 mins. Chasse was just fine, up walking around. I hit the floor and thanked GOD right then. Dixie is not just a dog, she is an Angel. I could go on and on about Chasse and Dixie. When I hear of some one saying that an apbt is a born killer, I think there hart is cold and there soul is empty. I would give my life for Dixie, as I would my children.

Great story! You should try sending that in to the gov'ts trying to ban the breed. (I wish my pit Dixie was an angel! I think she listens more to the little devil on her shoulder than her little angel!)

Great Story Animals Are So Special And Do Wonderful Things For Humans Glad U Gave Her A Chance And That U Love Her As Much As Your Childern.
I read about a lady that had a therepy dog.... I forget exactly what her physical ailement was but her dog used to lie on her legs and it really helped the pain. Sort of like a giant heating pad!
My daughter has cystic fibrosis and spent months in the hospital. When she finally made it home and after a couple of weeks of her homecoming my dog Arez started acting really wierd. She just wouldn't leave the baby alone, glued to her side, even trying to crawl into bed with her. To be honest it was getting a little annoying because the baby was on a feeding tube attatched to an IV stand and I was nervous Arez would knock it over or pull the tube out of her nose and putting it back in really sucked. Then one morning Raven {my daughter} was wickedly jaundiced and she had to return to the hospital because her liver was on the fritz. Arez obviously sensed something was up.

Awww, And imagine if you would have been in no mood to consider keeping her at the time she showed up. What would your future with her now have brought that youd have missed... things like that with Chasse, that youd never know or have to experiance? Pretty deep but its true, these dogs are amazing and inspiring, These things she does youd never have seen... but another family would have or sadly nobody at all... Im glad your intune enough to see these things with an APBT and to "bring them out from showing her love first"...its good that she loves your family and you love her.... She has good humans in her pack...good positive post.

I do think about the what if's. I was worred that I didn't have the xtray time and money it would take to keep her. 2 weeks later my husband got a rase and his old boss called him to work on the weekends. Funny how things turn out.

After reading this story I wanted to share my own experience with everyone. A few years back my cousin was in a very bad car accident. He had some serious head trauma. I decided to give up my life in Michigan and move to Tennessee to take care of him. After being there for a few weeks, by big dog Buster started acting funny. He was pacing back and forth and whining. He kept coming to the living room were I was at and he kept nudging me. He would then go back to my cousins bedroom. I watched him for a couple of minutes and I knew something wasn't right so I went to check on my cousin. When I got to the room Buster was laying across my cousin feet. Buster is a big dog, so I tried to get him off the bed. He would not move. I then noticed something was wrong with my cousin. A few minutes later he started having a seizure. From that day on Buster would warn us when my cousins seizures were going to happen. The doctor had told us that some of the seizures could have been life threatening if we would not have had the warnings. My cousin only lived for 3 years, but I truley believe he would not have lived as long if it wasn't for the love of that big ole bull dog.

See I Say It All The Time These Dogs Have Been Stereotyped From The Get Go. People Who Are In Power Who Are Trying To Ban Them Because They Have Never Even Been In Contact With This Breed. These Are The Stories That Need To Be Put In The Paper And In Your Congress Man Or Womans E-mails And Testimonials Need To Be Heard. I Also Have A Story My Wife Was Pregnant With Our First Child She Had Been Taken Out Of Work At 3 Months Due To Very Bad Labor Pains And Back Spasms She Would Suddenly Get In The Middle Of No Where. I Had Bought Our First Pit (skeeter) He Was Probably 6 Months When She Was About 5 Months Pregnant. I Was Working Out Of Town At The Time So It Was Just Her And Skeet. She Called Me One Day And Told Me That She Was In The House And She Was Washing Dishes When Skeeter Pulled The Back Of Her House Coat And Was Growling And Wimpering He Forced Her To Lay Down And He Laid Right Beside Her And Wouldn't Let Her Up And Sure Enough The Pains And Spasms Began To Occur He Stayed Right Beside Her Until It Quit And He Then Let Her Up. Maybe Just A Coincidence But He Knew What He Was Doing. The Baby Was Born With No Problems And No Abnormalities. I Owe My Sons Life And Well Being To Him. May Seem Out Of The Ordinary A Story Like This But It's True And Thats Why I Am So Passionate About These Dogs.
