Any insurance company will raise the rates because of certain dog breeds. Some cities and towns will demand that you have extra insurance if you are going to keep so called "dangerous breeds", prior to getting them liscenced, or they wont legaly allow you to have them.
As long as the dog is not on the property when the person from the insurance company comes for the inspection you are ok.

My friend almost lost his Home Owners. He had the police, animal control and a fire marshall show up at his house 3 times for complaints about his dog ( a Cane Corso). The reports eventually got around to his insurance company and they said they were going to drop him. So he told them he got rid of the dog, they came out checked his place out ( he hide the dog at his fathers place), no dog so the let it slide this time, but raised his rates.
The thing that really sucks is that the next door neighbor really does have vicious dog, a little mutt thing. It bit me 2 times on the ankle and my friend like 5 times. Every time he called AC on it they never showed up.

A lot of companies will not even write a policy, if you tell them you have APBT's, but if you lie, get the policy, and have an incident, you may not be covered. We use State Farm, they have no breed restrictions, and they don't charge a higher premium.

State Farm is the only home owner's insurance company I know that doesn't have breed restrictions. However, keep in mind that they may need to call a couple different agents as they can decide individually who they do & do not want to insure. (We've been dropped by All-State, Farm Bureau,)
