I got This 13W reb boy/Jeep pup But just lately he is being lazy with one of his ears and has stoped holding it right. I have corrected him on it time and time again. when i am not looking he will flop it over but i turn around and tell him he will correct it, I have never had this problem before. Any suggestions??

Dont scold him for how his ears grow....who cares if they have floppy ears, it gives them personality. And honestly, I dont think ive ever seen a bulldog with stand-up erect ears ALL THE TIME, most like to hold them back anyways. If looks are that important to you, crop them.

well its to late to crop but you think it might grow out of him as his head gets bigger.

Hes 13 weeks old? Most vets will still crop, ask around. But yes, pups especially hold their ears weird, they have alot of changing to do before you know what they will look like as an adult.

Most Vets Will Want You To Wait Until The Dog Is At Least 12 Weeks Old Before They Will Even Consider Cropping

Any suggestions??I would never correct him for how he holds his ears, he has no idea why he's in trouble....if your that concerned with how he holds his ears, you can get super glue (gel ) and train his ear.....fold it the way it should be, put a small amount on the bottom part of fold, closest to ear base and hold for a couple minutes against the ear base, it's hard to explain,....make sure you first see the way it should look before glueing, if it looks wrong after you glue, wait until it wares off and then redo it...never try pulling it apart...or, can crop them

I would rather not crop, croped ears tend to get dirty.

i think ears makes the dog have personality i think you should just leve the ears alone.

personally Id just let the ears be... doesnt hurt anything...doesnt bother the dog.. and unless you are super competetive in the show ring, shouldnt matter ..

I personally like to crop male dogs, and leave females floppy.

I like both cropped and natural ears..we only crop ears depending on what their ears look like and the shape of their head, but cropped ears stay inside..period..too dirty outside..so any and all outside dogs you should leave natural..natural ears give personality..but cropped ears look good too, just depends on the dog and how you want him/her to look..good luck.

I too know some vets that will cut an apbt's ears at any age..of course it costs way more..but they say since the apbt's ears are cut short enough that most of the time they will stand up if you tape them the right way..but there's no guarentee..they do say they have never had any problems with an adult apbt ears standing up after a cropping, but this is most likely due to the proper care from the owner.

Any suggestions??I see you changed what you said in your original thread, the point is dont yell at your dog for having young cartilage, do you think he knows his ear is flopping over, no.... and he perks it up when you yell because he is paying attention to you, it isnt a choice, he will grow into them and in time they will look more mature. If not accept it as a part of his personality just dont scold him for it.... its not grounds for punishment or yelling.

My dogs ears are not cropped and I'll tell you they sit great....he is the one in my signature picture (black and white picture). As he was getting older, I can tell you his ears went through like 5 different stages of the way they sat. I think dogs without their ears cropped look better the cropped eared dogs but everyone is different with their own opinion.

I agree with the rest of you guys. Just let the pup grow into his ears. I didn't like my dog's ears at first cuz they are like a bat when she sticks them strait up and then they sometimes just curl over at the tip. I think it gives her personality. If you knew her you would understand. Scolding your dog for not "holding his ears how you think he should" is just silly!! Thats like scolding your kid for being pigeon toed.(I;m not sure if that was a good comparison). Trust me once you bond with your dog, ears won't matter to ya. Have fun with your pup and enjoy him. You'll feel more rewarded for accepting him the way he is and he'll ALWAYS accept you in return, no matter what.

its cost $100 for an 1 year old over here it dont matter how old the dog is they will do itI was told it should not be done beyond 6mos even if taped. Im sure its because of the chances of them not staying up and the trauma and risk of the dog messing with them etc...but I guess that could have changed.
