LOL!! I double dog dare you to come find out! He's actually in great shape under all that skin! The pits I have eat way more than he does. He's been through a lot of protection training and can/will drop, pin, and if need be, maul a man to death.
Also, I'm not quite sure if your post was meant as an insult or all in good fun, but I prefer to choose the latter. Either way I will have a good sense of humor about it.

Id have no chance otherwise, im only 215 and 6' 2" im sure hes near that size when standing...lol. We are thinking about a Malinios. Highly intelligent hardy dogs. I grew up with rotties, my mother bred them for years(back when they were bred correctly). I wouldnt buy one now to save my life, especially not an american bred one. Either the show people have ruined their drive or the moron BYB have over bred them to the point 90% are unstable from birth. But anyway it would be awhile before we got any other breed, no need for protection right now..lol

Well my guard dog is my wifes Pomeranian. And she don't play. Its funny because whenever my wifes dog here's a noise or see's anybody through our window she goes crazy and my puppy just follows her looking for action. So when my pit gets bigger she will be the official guard dog.

Do dogues do well in the heat?
Not at all. If you live in an area w/ extreme temps, I would suggest keeping it indoors, or not have one at all. Luckily, San Francisco has pretty much the same weather all year round. Crappy. They do quite well in crappy weather.
Yall actullay think those dogs are going to work and guard your yard take a look at this bad boy http://game-dog.com/gallery/showimage.php?i=4488&c=3&userid=2551 he is one hell of a ankle bitter hahaha. But on a serious side prince does a hell of a job at protecting the back yard. He already got ahold of one guy that came in my back yard when i released prince to go get him. And the guy squelled like a little b!tch haha and prince drug his covers near the fence and stay awake all night looking out.

German Shepard lines...they are a little more aloof than a regualr German Shepard but 10X more serious and way higher on ability. Not more than 60lbs, My male is 54 fully grown, nice sized manstopper, hes a little more friendly than the Belgians I seen but still 100% happy to be left alone running the farm allday, I am really happy with him. Check them out Tab if you ever consider getting one heres a clip of some in France doing manstopping work and other amazing things. These are the Israili style German Shepards. “black raven wolf hybrid..high percentage wolf.”
Why…? Being a wolf in a “domestic” home environment is not a wise idea. That would be a serious problem waiting to explode! They aren't "pets" and never should be, goes against their genetic make-up and logic! I would think they are a problem waiting to happen. Logically no one can say they would make a good or even sup-par pet or qaurdian

money wise..it depends. a rescue usually is about 100-200$ but you have to go through a course and you have to have a fenced in yard and they come and check them selves..but a full blooded one..i'm not really sure..all i know is that they say they're pretty rare to get a full blooded black raven. I know they sold one full blooded stud male who was over 170 lbs for $3000. but they only sold it because the people really wanted the stud (some sort of black raven group) but i have no idea how much a full blooded pup would run. just depends who you know.

Texas, i only go by what i see. yes they used to be close to wild..but these days they pretty much ruined the wild out of them..just like wild dogs..no animal is totally tame, they're all wild and have instincts in their own ways. But in the right home, they're great. i have seen many wolf hybirds that make awesome pets, they love kids more than anything. they are over rated just like the pit bull. don't knock it till you try it. but as far as recommending it for a family home...i would not..but i wouldn't the pit bull either, nor the german shepard, rotty, or dobe..just because if not in the right hands, it could cause problems. But in the right hands with someone with the room and knowledge, they are wonderful!

I do agree, I guess my facination with them is their beauty, I could totally see having some in an enclosure similar to natural habitat etc but it would not be a pet or open animals to be seen and touched by strangers, the guy I know in Ames with one and the woman in Davenport that breeds them have both received injuries from them while growing and socializing. The man in Ames told me when I met him with my dog Bambam that he would belly up to my dog..an aggressive male, and he did... when they were introduced, but if he wanted to he could behead such a smaller dog in comparison like my Bambam, even though they got along after they met... if he decided to take Alpha he would win hands down, and the man told me he attacked him when he fed him several times, raw Cow or Pork portions with bone and all and he went nuts and attempted to challenge him for it, this was while young and around 100lbs, he had to forcefully wrestle him down, beat him up and put him in his place everyday for a week until he got the hint, he said everytime he beat his focking ass as instructed by experts, and finally it took its place as subordinate, supposedly with no problems now in his home with his family, now 180lbs I could never introduse him to a dog again no matter how my dog would react, or enter this mans house, now he has accepted his position in the pack he will not give it up to any stranger... man or beast. Texas is right they are not pets, they are wild animals and can only serve purpose as a specimen of nature in a safe enclosed environment, WITH OTHER WOLVES, if not in a strong pack they will try to dominate anything they view as theyre pack, just to let you know the woman I considered getting one from told me the same thing, hers area all kept this way "together" and never introduced to strangers, too much variable and liability. Theres so many other "breeds" used successfully for guard work that can distinguish threats and needed actions, Wolves more likely to revert to instincts and forget training no matter how indepth.

Devinben, there used to be someone in NC that bred Wolf/Pit bull and Wolf/Rottie mixes, you ever seen any of them?
I am not a fan of the wolf hybrids I've been bitten by 2 pretty bad and was not to thrilled because by law they can't be rabies vaccinated. Luckly I am, but if I wasn't I'd have been really pissed.

Never heard of the wolf/it and wolf/rottie mixes. the lady i know who rescues and breeds has hers rabbies done..yet she is a vet too..maybe that has something to do with it. Never seen any bite, but i'm sure they do..just like any other dog. But the wolf hybrid or the full wolf needs to be in the right environment..not chained up or an inside dog. but in the right environment they seem to do very well..at least what i've seen. But like others said..there are plenty of other guard dogs..get one of them instead.

“But the wolf hybrid or the full wolf needs to be in the right environment.”
Has absolutely nothing to do with being in the “right environment”, like Misterdogman somewhat eluded too. They are not designed to live in harmony with man. Common sense will tell you they will bite their “owner” and it’s a fact they do it much more frequently than any other canine kept by man. Just for the simple fact their natural instincts tell them to fear man, while the dogs in them tell them to accept man. Just a mentally screwed up canine, when tried to be kept as a “domesticated” one!

I would love to get a Rhodesian Ridgeback, always liked them. They were origionally bred because european settlers needed a multi-purpose dog to hunt lions, to guard the farms and to be a family companion, which is safe with children..and that is what they got with this breed! A very easy to care-for breed. An extremely strong, very athletic and great winded dog..reminds me of a giant apbt. Need the same care and exercise as an apbt..they absolutely LOVE kids..but like any breed, you have to get one from a well know breeder. Some day when i find a good breeder i'll get me one.

Yes, it's me! I'm back! :D
Anyways, Wrigley (Shar Pei/Cane Corso) is my guard dog. You can be the nicest person in the world, but all I have to do is scream "ow" & it's on. ;)
Anyways, I am so very against people owning wild animals including wolves, wolf hybirds, tigers, pumas, bobcats, etc. Y'all get the point. I strongly believe it's cruel & inhumane to vainly force an wild animal to suffer the acts of domestication that it was never bred to deal with, all for cheap pride & foolish ego. Let our wild animals flourish & be themselves in the wild, not in your cramped backyard (& unless you own a thousand acres for your wolf or wolf hybrid to roam & hunt on, then it's a "cramped backyard"). In 50 yrs, you CANNOT breed out the wild instincts. Only fools will believe this concept.

while i do agree with you Mia, i also feel that ANY and ALL animals deserve space. I would never want to put a wolf or a wolf hybrid in a small area..the lady i know, only started because of the people who wanted to look "cool" w/a wolf or wolf hybrid and ended up not being able to care for it. These days a lot of wild wolves don't have much land left, therefore they're forced to live right next to man..a bad thing. In north carolina there are wild wolves that roam the 30 acres we used to live on...luckily we never had a problem. But i do think that owning wild wolves or tigers, or any wild animal is a bad idea..can only cause problems in the future..but she's got a good thing going with the rescues..yet her land is a preservation for them. she gets quite a few rescues..and i'm glad she helps them! I wish no one would have bothered the wolves and made them part tame...it would be better off if they would have just left them alone!

I'm glad that there are people out there that do rescue work. Hell, a vet I work with & am good friend's with has 2 wolf dogs herself. But even she would opt for euthanasia for these beautiful yet maimed animals over a life of forced domestication. Her 2 dogs, Fang & Bubba, have always been fearful of people, prefer to have a "den" as far away from the house as possible, & stare day in & day out at the unfenced portion of there 22 acres. She's had things dogs since they were pups & they have never known anything but human kindness & have been socialized as much a possible. But yet, they're still wild. They're still shny dogs who would prefer to be as far away from humans as possible & just be allowed to live free as nature intended. After seeing these dogs (& others I have some experience with), I have come to believe that sometimes euthanasia can be the nicest gift we can give these animals to release them from man's cruel hands of forced domestications.
