First off I want the readers of this post to understand Im not asking this question because of lack of knowledge, but because I value other dogmen and dogwomens opinions:

Im going to be starting a new yard since Ive moved from the west coast to the south. now I have the means to explore bloodlines that before were not readily avilable to me. I plan to purchase 1 pup this year and only 1. I need a female and havent decided upon the breeding I want behind her. Im looking for a strain that has mouth, wind, gameness, intelligence, the complete package. But I also need this pup to come from proven stock that produces. I was thinking Tombstone/Bolio or RedBoyxJocko/Jeep. Anyway what I want to know is what blood is good foundation stock with females of superior quality and production? Who should I get my pup off of (male or female)? any reccomended breeders or kennels? why?

I thank everyone who replies in advance and am looking forward to all input regarding the issue. NuTTDoGG

you will be very lucky to get a brood bitch with the first pup you purchase. my advice would be to save up and just a gyp that is proven and start your yard with a true brood bitch rather than a gamble

Thanks crossfire. But I know that I wont be able to just get a brood bitch at the first try. thats why Im only gonna buy 1 pup this year to see what I get and if I like I keep. If not I cull. so with that in mind do you have any suggestions?

I dont know of any proven gyps for sale in the south.

everything has a price tag. if you feel you time is money, i would get some change together and buy older bitch.

I agree with Ground Up, get a proven female to start your yard. Then find the best stud and breed to him and keep all the pups. Then just sit back and wait for 18mos and see what happens.

Well depending on the line you are looking for you can even get some good deals on prospects. They are a little older so not as long to wait. Hell even if "leased" a female for one breeding that works too.

If you are planing to start a new yard you best bet as everyone has said is to go with an older brood bitch. Even from the most proving producer there can be duds and no sane breeder will guarantee that any female pup or older dog he/she sell will be a great breeder. I have seen older females sold of many breeds with the breeder saying "She produces the best pups" Go in and out of heats with proven studs and never drop a litter. This is Buyer Beware in the breeding game. I breed AKC Chow Chows and know this for I have bought a few dud female who were fixed and placed in good home a few who have made a killing in the show ring. It took me a few female before I found my brood female. I own two pit bulls but, have no plan to breed them for they are house pets but, as I say Buyer Beware when looking for a brood female. I push like most breeder only breed if you dogs can better the breed its self. A lot of people I have meet Know what they are doing and they do it well. That is stated for every breed and as for bloodlines. Jacko is one that does not do well in the south I live in north Carolina and all the pit bull breeder I know are going into gotty and razor edge. It really comes to the buyers choice. I love the Jeep, Colby, Redboy, Honeybunch, Jacko, Eli and Sasoon Bloodline. I also recommend whatever breeder you buy from. Be sure you see their yard and stock. Best of Luck with your Foundation Stock I hope you kennel gets off to the right start and most of all I hope your dogs help improve our beloved breed the Pit Bull.

most breeder of pit bull kennels breed Gotty and Razor edge in NC. It took me forever to find my Jeep and Colby cross. I have not seen and addvertised Kennel who breeds Jacko. If you also reread my posy it say "I love the Jeep, Colby, Redboy, Honeybunch, Jacko, Eli and Sasoon Bloodline." Those are bloodline i myself like in a game pit bull but most pit bull breeders or going into Razor Edge blood lines and heaven help me but, its the truth most people wanting to pay 2000 and up for a dog want a dog that is Razor Edge for some reason. This is my two cent though i just found out from my own dealing Razor edge seem to be more breed bloodline in my state.

LOLL!! What? You are more than mistaken on that. There are many very reptuable breeders in NC of game dogs. Last time i checked most of the "big blue" breeders were in FL, TX, and CA, or atleast that is what i have seen. just because someone does not advertise their JOCKO dogs does not mean they arent around, beleive me they ARE! LOL

From your post, I'd say...you don't need a "brood" dog nor should you be even thinking of breeding at this stage in your studies! You couldn't possibly offer the bulldog world anything with your breedings!

I was say from my own way for myself it is hard to find anything but, gotty and razor. I looked for seven month before i found my red boy and i own two APBA pit bulls. I myself had only found a few myself. As for call one a DumbA** that is a little childish to me and nor was it needed as i stated in my post those were not the lines i was talking about those are some of the line i like myself. The breeders i know seem to be going into the show lines not the Game lines.

NO NO NO............................ It is actually hard to find gotti and razors edge, not that I would EVER look, but I know ALOT of people in NC that have pits. I am always asking what blood they are and just to let you know I have come across exactly 2 gotti and razors edge dogs. I live in NC and go to lots of shows aroun here. I am also a manager at a petsmart and I see LOTS of pits and talk to lots of breeders. So you are Very mistaken!!! We have awesome breeders in NC, one being Ed Faron. So if all you came across were gotti and razors edge dogs you are talking to fake breeders that need a little 101 on what really makes up a pit bull....................

From your post, I'd say...you don't need a "brood" dog nor should you be even thinking of breeding at this stage in your studies! You couldn't possibly offer the bulldog world anything with your breedings!Ok first Id like to thank everyone who has and will respond to this message. Then I would like to say to Texasbulldogs that I understand why you say this but I would like you to know that Ive been studying this breed for quite some time. Now, I want to say that I have a good friend that breeds Gottyline and Razors Edge *Pitmastiffs**lol* and I have owned one or two in my life. We grew up in california and were into dogs since we were kids. Hes a big fan of blue dogs, with wide chests, short legs and big heads. I am not. I lived in South Carolina before I moved to Cali so I knew what a pitbull was supposed to be. Now understand and note that if I wanted to make money off of puppies then I could easily get a bitch that costs 5000 and mill her puppies for at least a grand each. I know Roger who is the owner of Gottylines Black Ace *mutant**lol* personally. I have another friend in California that owns an expensive bitch out of Blue King and a son of Razors Edge Bull and a pup off of Manu not to mention countless Short Shot progeny.
BUT THATS NOT WHAT I WANT. I DONT WANT TO SELL PUPPIES so who cares if I breed 1 bitch that goes into season hopefully twice a year? See this thing is a hobby for me not an income so the bulldog world doesnt have to worry about me. And furthermore my studies in the dog game will never end and I have come along way to get this far. Now its time to do my thing and any help is appreciated. and one more thing DONT JUDGE A DOGMAN BY HIS POST JUDGE HIM BY HIS INTENTIONS.
Thanks for your time and thank all the dogmen and women for their guidence and opinion and for all posts in the future.
NuTTDoGG

p.s. I dont know about the bulldog world, Im a "pit" man myself and I like em game and able not blue and pretty.

i love this hardnose type of thread and i enjoy reading each post toss thier side back and forth. TX is packed with razor and all the big blue "stuff". So if thats what you want there are lots of big money kennels that would love to help you out. Now in OK it's all red nose game. easy to find from where i'm at. but again thats up to the buyer. IMO i would stay away from the "big dog" look not very many big female producers out there, any proven ones for that matter. and it's just doesn't look as good as a game as hell bitch that will give you both a healther pup as well as a show dog to boot.
Again this is all IMO so please be gentle with the come backs....lol

I think you should get a proven gyp, search other boards of what ever bloodline you are leanin one, there a few south carolina and surrondin area board, that are always sellin quailty dogs.,,

but as for me in about 5 years, I am goin start runnin banjo and bolio dogs with a few tombstone dogs,, but that a long way away... but maybe I make the grade one day ;)
