Today while at work we were talking about the recent pit bull bans and such in Oklahoma. A coworker said that boxers, pit bulls, rotts, dobermans, etc.. have some sort of chemical imbalance or syndrome where they can't stand extreme heat or cold b/c its makes them go crazy???? I argued with her that that couldn't be true but she swore up and down that it was. Then she said that pit bulls have a knot or bump in their skull and as they grow up and their brain grows, the bump cracks and that causes aggression to. I have 2 apbt's and this is the first time I have ever heard of these things. They sound crazy to me but I was just wondering if anyone else has heard of this!

Who knows? But another lady that was there said that all pit bulls should be put down, which absolutly infuriated me and I just point blank asked her if she had ever actually taken the time to do a little research on the breed and of course the answer was no. I HATE IGNORANT PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think we should only consider getting rid of all pit bulls after we rid the entire world of stupid people.

I completely agree! Sometimes it seems like you are going in circles with the constant criticism and hatred.
Tell that lady to get an APBT. Tell her to keep it for one year and if she feels the same way she feels now you will buy the dog from her. I bet you wouldnt be able to pry the dog out of her hands if she has a heart.

It's Crap! Most Dogs Are Aggressive Only If The Owner Lets Them Get Away With It. I Can't Stand People Who Automatically Think That A Pit's Gonna Run Up And Bite Them Or Thier Dog. I Carry My Dog To The Park All The Time And As Soon As People See My Pit They Start Grabbing Thier Dogs Up And Putting Them On A Leash Like My Dog's Gonna Attack.

Maybe that is what is wrong with them! Their brain has swelled and it has made them come up with crazy ideas!!!! Just a thought.

That same thing happened to me at PetsMart the other day. There were a couple of ladies on an aisle with yorkies and as soon as they seen me come around the corner they snatched up their dogs and walked off. OH WELL!! I guess you just have to laugh at them. They can't help it that they are dumb!

I Agree With Tnob. Money Couldn't Buy My Dog. Pits Are The Most Dedicated, Loyal, Loving, Playful, Determined, And Caring Breed I've Ever Seen.
If it wasn't for the lock jaw they wouldn't be such bad dogs. ;)

Hypothermia/Hyperthermia ????Spelling may be wrong...yup....extreme temp affects all animals, even the human one.
Chemical imbalance....rare problem, not breed specific, affects humans as well.
Skull cracking....well....I would get aggressive if someone hit me in the head hard enough to crack it....Imbecils....geez.

Lets not forget about the locking jaws and that pits smell children and old folks the same as they do gravy train dog food. My dogs head split open and I have to cover its ever growing brain with a ziplock baggy. But it is not crazy anymore with the space relief. It also wears a small HVAC system on its back for climate control.

My grandmother swears up and down they my dog will smell her fear and attack her with her big, bad locking jaws. No matter the books and info. I push her way, she will only look at my dog through the windows in her house!
By the way, good idea with the ziplock baggy - I'll have to try that when heads start splitting in my house!

By the way, good idea with the ziplock baggy - I'll have to try that when heads start splitting in my house!Dogs can really smell fear, and read eyes for fear... its a fact.... and sometimes they will bite out of fear, I have a dog that is great with anyone under the sun as long as your not scared of him... if you treat him like hes yours and you approach him with the idea your the master and a happy master he is like the biggest puppy in the world wigglin' his butt and all... BUT.>>, Dogs cannot rationalize like humans, when they smell fear they dont know your scared of them, or if your gonna hurt the master... or steal something, they dont have these complexe rationalizations, so they fear bite and ask questions later. You should be able to see it in their eyes next time they are around someone scared of them, just be careful .
