So last night I take my pup to Southern Agriculture for his shots (they do clinicals there). I also took my 8 month old for some socialization. While walking through the store I came across a woman who stopped me and asked if my dog was mean. I told her no, she is not mean, just a little playful! She had the nerve to tell me that since my dog wasn't mean, she wasn't full blood and that she didn't have papers. When I informed her that she did have papers her response was, "Well too bad they are banning them." and walked away. Has anyone else been told their dog wasn't full blood just because they weren't mean and vicious? I don't believe I would take a vicious dog to a pet store where there are children and other animals!

Which is another reason why I like to take her out a lot...she truely is a well behaved dog and I like having people realize that everything they hear is not always the truth! Once at the vet, an elderly lady bent over and let her lick her face and said, "Wow I've never even pet a pit bull before!" Now that is what I like to see.

I took both my pitbull babies to a petco near where I live and they got so much attention it was wild. There were other pit owners there as well. It was great to be a in a store where i could walk in with my pits and know that they wont be met with fear and anger.They are only 6 months old and growing like weeds so the socialization was great for them.

I had a similar thing happen to me and they said i didnt have a real pit i was like you know what your right i have a American Pit Bull Terrier.

We rarely ever take a dog anywhere, probably because we have 15....LOL. If I was to ever have to deal with somene like this I'm sure I would embarrass my poor wife to death. That's how it was when I went to the pet shop with them, I raved on and on about Rebel & Baby Girl and how good they have been since I got them. While growing up I was never a fan of pits, I believed all the media hype about them , but this past valentines I got my first pit and now I have 3. I used to raise german shepards & cocker spaniels but I enjoy having the pits around more than I ever did the other dogs. tehy are so much more playful and they all have decided I am their Human , they arent my dogs LOL

You are their human because they think they are human too! lol I really got mine into a bad habit of letting her sleep in bed with me (which I don't think I could do without now!) but she has to have her own pillow and be under the covers! They don't know what the word "dog" means! LOL

I never had been around one but I didn't like them because of what I had heard. I spent one weekend at a relatives who has two pits, and decided I had to have one. Now I have two and will never have any other breed of dog again! They really steal your heart!

Yeah my dogs are treated better than most. I only have 4 and only one of them is a pit. She gets along with my other dogs really well. At night i have to make room in my bed for all 4 of them and the cat.

I have a queen size bed and all 4 of my dogs are about 50lbs apiece. Its a very cozy situation.

I Got One For U So The Other Night I Had Diamond And Gremlin Out Front Both On There Leashes I Had Gremlin I Dont Know What The Hell My Boy Friend Was Doing But He Let Go Of Her Leash And There Were Some Kids Playing Out Side So She Went Over There Shes Only 12wks The Lady Asked What Kind Of Dog She Was We Told Her Staff. Then She Looked At Gremlin And Said Is He Pit Bull I Told Her Yes Then She Says Oh Well Then He Bites Then Huh I Said No My Dog Does Not Bite Pissed Me Off. People Are So Miss Lead By The Tv And Bsl And Some People Will Take The Time To Listen And Learn And Others Will Not We Can Only Do So Much.

I try not to tell anyone in my neighborhood that Buck is an APBT yet. Instead, I'm going to let all of the neighborhood kids fall in love with him and then let the parents know.

The people that know what kind of dog he is, freak out when they see him. But, the ones that don't, let their kids hug and kiss him all day. I wonder how they will act when they find out that their kids have been loving on an APBT every day.

It's amazing that people are so scared of a name.

lmao no i wind up overheating actually. I used to be paranoid about the dogs sleeping on my sheets but i got over that quickly. I have an air conditioner and 2 fans going in my room. At some point the dogs get off the bed and sleep in front of the fans. Then when cooled off the hop back in bed and snuggle.

Its not to bad. Atleast they arent shoving me off in the middle of the night anymore.

My pit bulls are the same. Forget the barking when soemone is at the door, you better watch out for the excessive licking! My best friend has a little boy and he can pull her ears, grab her tail, hang on to her lips, etc... and all she does is look at him and lick him. I was the same when we got our first pit 3 years ago ( she was about to be taken out and shot b/c the owners didn't want her anymore). At first I was real skidish about her (b/c of the reputation) and as soon as she came in the house she jumped up on my husbands lap and hasn't gotten down since. But even before we got her I was just afraid of them I NEVER wanted anything bad to happen to them (BSL). A dog is a dog and humans are the ones who domesticated them. That is why I love this site, b/c I can talk about my pits and learn from others without the stereotyping.

Hey at least you don't have to worry about your neighbors stealing yours! Everytime we go out and they are out they talk a bunch of "oh she's getting so pretty, we got some buddies who'd like to breed with her. Too bad I don't have my 180 lb. male that would drag this car down the street here, or you could breed with him." I just don't trust them because they are drug dealing, meth cooking, thieves.

When i take my pup out i get alot of omg i would not have that dog around my kids like that, as my lil boy is layin on her back and playing with her. Then there the ones that come up and play with her ask what she is and when we tell them, they jump and say oh those are meen. The thing I have to deal with and makes me see RED, Is my dad. When we brought my pup home dad asked what she was and I told him she was an APBT, aka Pitt Bull. He told me to shot her. No one around here would no like her bing around. Now this is comeing from a man who lets his dog run around every where, and have pups that he cares nuthing about the last two litters he killed them or set them off and HE is telling me to shot my baby. I know I have alot to learn about this breed, But I know how to care for my pets.

I love watching kids play with mine! My cousin has a 2 yr. old who loves to just crawl all over mine. She even naps with her. The 2yr. old is more vicious than my dog!!

Dozer i have the same problem. Not only do i have to look out for idiots that want to steal my dog but every time i take her out i have people asking me if i want to breed her with their dog. I try and play nice while they tell me about their 100+ pound blue dogs, or the dogs with a slight human agression problem, or the half starved dog they just rolled. It never ends.

When people ask me if my dog bites i look them in the eye and say no they dont.... But i do.
