I'm cross posting this for the club. I didn't see it on here yet.

A very unfortunate accident has happened in the town of Moore, Oklahoma. A young boy, Cody Yelton age 3 was playing alone in his backyard. No one knows exactly what led to the events that took place on this day. Young Cody had placed his little arm through the chain link fence that enclosed his backyard, and through a neighbors privacy fence, that had one picket missing. (the properties were adjacent to one another) The neighbor owned four Pit bull Terriers, which were all running loose inside the privacy fence. One or all of the Pit Bull Terriers attacked Cody's arm, and it was severed. Cody is now home from the hospital, unfortunately his arm was not salvageable, and had to be amputated at the shoulder. The four dogs responsible for the attack were all euthanized. Cody's life is forever changed...

We the 89er American Pit Bull Terrier Club are deeply saddened by this tragic event. Cody has inspired us to organize a benefit in his honor. Cody's father is self employed, and has taken full monetary responsibility for all medical bills they will incur.

We would like your support, WE AS AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER owners need to seize this as an opportunity to EDUCATE, and INFLUENCE responsible pet ownership, regardless of BREED! With some basic education on canine behavior and safety, tragic accidents can be avoided.

Wow. What a great thing! This is how we as RESPONSIBLE (if you're not, you better start being!) APBT people can show support & get a good name out there. I wish I lived closer, but my support goes out to him & his family.

Thanks Mia. Chris really appresiates that we are doing this for him and his son. I talked to him yesterday and today and went over all of it. Cody doesn't even realize that his arm is gone. He thinks that it is just in a bandage. A great kid with a strong spirit.

I hope we get a great turn out and educate some people on responsible dog ownership. As well as educate people on this misunderstood breed.

Outstanding ideas for improving public safety and knowledge. I am very saddenend for the young boy. A couple questions, who's choice was it to put down all the dogs? What if only 1 actually attacked?

I belive that it was either animal control or police that decided it. All of them were attacking not just one. One my have started it, but all 4 in the backyard attacked.

Thank you guys so much for doing this. It just made my day when I heard that you guys are also doing something. :) I was telling Chris about it and he couldn't belive that someone all the way in Missisppi was also doing a benefit pull. I'll see if I can get a picture of Cody for you guys.
