View Full Version : Profanity will NOT be tolerated
I would like to start out with two simple quotes as follows:
Profanity is strong words said by weak people.
Profanity is the linguistic crutch of the inarticulate.
On behalf of the entire game-dog.com staff I would like to reiterate that profanity is not needed and will not be tolerated on this board. We all understand that you might have strong conviction over a topic or a debate we are having but please choose your words carefully. I've personally had to edit a half dozen posts in two days due to profanity. Please choose a different word to express your emotion. We have visitors from all different walks of life and various ages and the profanity is not needed. If you have something that strong to say perhaps you need to take the conversation to private.
Thank you everyone for listening and helping to keep this board clean!
Regards,
BnD and the rest of game-dog.com staff

This has been gone over before, a post with an occassional "swear or cuss word" isn't that bad, now the foul posts where every other word is F this or F that, is definately not needed.

Thanks BND for bringing this up,very soon there will be alot of changes to the board, there will be guidelines set forth for the staff to enforce, and more rules to follow,we will be taking down pictures of dogs growling, snarling and foaming at the mouth, this is something the general public does not need to see, if we are here to educate, how can we say these dogs are not viscious when they see this pictures?
Shon will be working on the rules as he gets a chance.

Excellent post BnD, it really doesn't have a place in a public forum. There is no telling who is reading the posts.

Excellant post BnD. It really does amaze me on what the post's that get the most feed back are. Again if you sit back and just observe you will find that the one's that bring out contrary issue's seem to take off like wildfire. And then ,just as with all things, words are printed that really didn't need to be shared. I don't do PM's because I feel if you really need to talk to me then you know who I am and can call. Keep it educational and watch the fingers. You might help the picture as a whole that way. It's not just the younger generation reading.

hell and crap stuff like that I can under stand but come on man!!!!I understand where you're tryin to go, but IMO heavy censorship is just gonna raise too many hackles. I have to agree with Bubba, a little cuss here or there isn't a big issue. Now, I believe we can all be adults or at least conduct our affairs like them.
I have to respectfully disagree. We should all be grown out of the potty mouth phase. There are plenty more words that can bring home the same point without being offensive. Do you people swear and curse around your kids or your parents? Self respect is key to respecting others. Out of respect for the people that don't want to hear cursing and profanity everyone should understand that these words are not needed. This is a public forum.

I'm reluctant to express my opinions on this issue, but I tend to agree with Crash. We should all behave like adults...but without having to feel forced to. I didn't come to this site for months after I was aware of its existence, because I heard from several people that the censorship was a little too much. When I finally did decide to lurk around in here a bit, I found that not to be the case. I was extremely thankful for that, because I ended up loving this site. Being a member of many gamedog forums on the net, I came to be of the opinion that this site was among the very best, if not the best. I am not alone in my hesitance to initially pay this site a visit; to see what it's really about. There are a number of great doggers who could only be a benefit to these forums, but they refuse to come here because they don't want to deal with heavy censorship; not that they can't conduct themselves with sophistication, but because they don't want to feel like they're being scrutinized under the red ink of a tyranny. I don't feel that members of this site are out of control with profanity. There are certainly those who could cut back, and they should, but this isn't exactly a children's site to begin with. Of course certain language can be offensive to some, but certain ideas and concepts can often be far more offensive than any four-letter-word. Any one of us can go through these threads and find plenty that is offensive to us individually, without seeing a single profanity. So where are we going to draw the lines? Don't get me wrong, I definitely feel that lines should be drawn, but to go nit-picking through every post and edit out every little thing that may be deemed "offensive" will most assuredly result in the eventual devolution of the site.
Just my 2 cents...I think I may have a dollar stashed away in my wallet somewhere.
BTW, nothing but respect for Lord Byron, but it can't be argued that many great literary minds, both past and contemporary, have not excluded profanities from their works. That may sound like I'm making excuses for profanity, but honestly, I'm not, nor am I condoning it. I just don't happen to agree with Byron's idea of profanity as a "linguistic crutch."
Please don't take my opinions as any sign of disrespect. I think the forum rule prohibiting "excessive cussing" is a good rule.
