We've had our pit since 8 weeks, never abused, yelled or hit him. He's only been around us, never a sitter or kennel. He has a nervous pee thing going on I thought he'd outgrow. But he still does it. I've had him house trained since about 1 month old. We have 2 kids, 3 and 5 and he's fine with both of them. Loud noises dont scare him, etc. But when I'm walking him, or a friend comes over, he pees all over the place. I've tried not scolding him, letting him out more, (it's like he has a reserve tank). Why is he doing this?? Any help appreciated.

What your dog is doing is a submissive behavior. Sometimes pups will grow out of this, sometimes they won't. It's not necessarily a bad thing (unless he get it on your bare feet :) ). Sometimes, too, you will notice that when people talk tosome dogs in a very excited way, these dogs will also urinate. It's just one of those behaviors that's very hard to break as scolding the dog will only confuse the dog into a more submissive & sometimes fear-like state. I almost hate to say this, but as long as he's not overly shy to the point of fear biting or nipping, I'd just leave him be. Well, not quite. You should work more on building up his confience/self-esteem by increasing his socialization with people. Take him lots of places, let everyone & their grandma pet him.

Rocksteady, any more input?
