Yes. But this breed was formed many hundreds of years ago by mixing Bulldogs (whom we must remember look nothing like our current English Bulldog) with Terriers, hence the Bull & Terrier name. When the "creators" were striving for this breed, once they reached the desired results & named it an APBT, then they began breeding an APBT only to another APBT. Many people are still under the assumption that they can "create" their own APBT by adding in some english bulldog blood (Gotti) or mastiff blood (Whopper) & still call the result an APBT. But they're wrong. This breed has already been formed--there is a set standard both physically & mentally. So all this "I'm gonna make my own pit bull" crap is not only retarded, stupid, & idiotic, but is fast ruining the breed.

You ought to pick up a good book about the APBT as most go into great detail about this breed's creation. There are many threads on this topic already so just use the search function.

I'm sorry. How was I being rude? I was in no way insenuating that you bred these dogs, just trying to give a brief history lesson. It was only supposed to be informative not accusatory. I'm sorry if it came out that way. I have reread what I wrote & I don't see how it sounds that way. And I was suggesting using the search function to find some info on some great books. I enjoy reading books about this breed & I was only thinking that you might too enjoy a good book. Just trying to be friend, not a finger-pointing enemy. I'm sorry if you took it that way.

The part about the "make your own pit bull" was just a [pitiful?] example of how some people out there justify their breedings. I commend you for your rescuing & for your interest in learning about this breed. It's a great breed & has a lot to offer mankind if one just takes the time.
