I have a 10week old female that I picked up about 5days ago. She was not feed right and was very skinny. I have since been keeping her stomach full and she seems to be filling out. My question is her hair seems a little long and is kinda soft and stead of being stiff. I would say that it is about 3/8th of an inch on her back where it is the longest. Could this be because she is still a pup and needs to fill out more? Is this common ? I do not have papers for her but was told she was full bread with a mixture of eli/jeep/colby. Do you guys think that she might not be pure bread? I dont no much about pits and this is my first but she does look very pure besides her hair being a little shabby. Any of your opinions is appreciated. I put some pictures below that I took with my webcam so let me no what you think of my pup. Thanks mike

The girl that I got her from took her away from the breeders. She insit that she is pure breed but they were just bad breaders and never kept track of everything. She is cute but it would be nice to have some papers maybe I will see if I can do some investigating and get everything strait.

If you know the breeders, talk to them, maybe they can help. But keep in mind, she's just a pet, papers don't mean a thing, have her spayed, and love her.

She's a cute pup! I love the black and tans. ;) I can't tell if her hair is shabby or not, the pictures are blurry, but unless you know the breeders you probaly won't know if she is a mix or not. ;)

Hopefully she will get that very muscular look.

Nah her legs really arent long must just be the pick. My friend just stoped buy who used to breed pits and he say she looks like the real deal to him but who know's. He also told me to give her a block of scraple once a week to bulk her up. What do you guys think about scraple ?

Are you saying she was stolen?

I was wondering the same....

No she was friend with the breeder's and they gave storm to her according to her. Then I bought storm off of her. But she also said the dog was being negelcted and her being a breeder might have gotten pissed off and have taken her?

I am just trying to make sense of all of this ...so your friend "rescued" her from her own friend....then SOLD her to you? I just think it sounds off. Do you know the person well? I would hate to see someone like you, trying to do a nice thing for a dog, get in trouble for theft... There's too much dog stealing going on, and people always seem to try to "justify" their actions. Most of the time the dogs in question are not in as bad shape as the so-called rescuers would like you to believe. I brought this up mainly because your dog doesn't look to have been neglected, her coat is very glossy and she's not skin and bones. Maybe you should talk to the breeders yourself, just to make sure you don't end up in trouble. If your friend is being honest, and didn't steal the dog-then she shouldn't have any problem disclosing this info to you :) Good Luck!!!

No I am not friends with the person that I got the dog from. I met her on the internet looking for a rotweiler oldy enough. But she is friends with the person that she got the dog from, she was just kinda the middle person. I didnt claimed that she rescued the dog just when she got it she said it hadnt really been feed enough that's all. But your prob right about me getting in contact with the breeder's of the dog. I would really like to see the parents anyway.

So someone gave her the dog and in turn she is trying to make a buck off the pup?? Sounds fishy to me. I hope you didnt pay a whole lot..maybe just for whatever medical and feed bills that inncurred??

But good luck with your new pup. she certainly is a cutie.

Kay

That sounds a little bit better but like Rocksteady said, hopefully you only paid any incurred medical bills.
And your pup really is a cutie!! Enjoy her, remember that we are here to help you along the way :)

Thanks guys I paid $100 for the pup with her first shots. The girl also agreed to do the remainder of the shots for $25each. Im just hope that once she gets a little older I can start training her and get her to look as good and cut as some of your guys pits on hear. She isnt that big yet but if paw size indicats anything she is going to be a big girl. And damn pitbull pups bite damn hard lol

Yikes another bad sign...A 7-way vaccination costs FOUR DOLLARS...Not to mention what she is offering is called practicing vetranary services without a license...Illegal....Call around local shelters and ask for low cost clinics, this woman is just trying to make money off you, a little bit at a time... :(

Nah those werent her name lol. She gave me the impression that shots were very expensive and that she was giving me a hell of a deal. I will check around and see what the vets say.

Maybe we are just a soft-hearted vet clinic, but since we see soooo many sick unvaccinated dogs, we encourage people to vaccinate their dogs even if they go & buy the vaccines themselves. They can even bring in the vaccine (1st timers only though) & we will show them how to administer it. I can't tell you how much I HATE treating & cleaning up 15 parvo dogs. YUCK!!

Well alot of vets will charge more than $25, i've seen $55-$85 range for each set they give. If you buy em personally though they will be very cheap, alot of people who breed do their own shots, as long as they know what they are doing they save alot of money. Now I will also say that i've seen people that breed pits give shots wrong for puppies people bring to them and try to make extra money treating dogs for people claiming to save them money. Me personally, I learn all I can about it, from breeders and vets, then I began to do the particular action on my own.

She probably charges 25 bucks a pop so she can afford that lawsuit when some dog has an anaphylactic reaction to a vaccine.:D

LOL, yeah really. I do my own vacc (except rabies) but I would be afraid of vaccinating even my good friend's dogs just in case they had a reaction. I'd feel awful.

To let everybody know I just made my apointment at the local vet. It is only going to be 40 buck for the shot and the deworming. So I guess you guys were right about getting me for a little at a time lol. Atleast now I know it will be done right and my pup will be healthy

The color doesn't mean it's not pure-bred, black & tan is definitely a color that is a "legal" pitbull color, particularly in some Sorrells and Tonka bred dogs, but the circumstances that you got her under would be my only question on how "pure" she is. So from appearances, she could be a pure pit, and longer/softer hair on a pup is also not unheard of, their true coats won't appear until they get their adult coats.

Some examples of a black/tan from Tonka/Tombstone lines (black & tan is nothing more than a black-nose variation of the chocolate & tan coloring you will see in a red-nose dog with that same genetic coat pattern):

I wouldn't worry about the hair thing to much. I have a female that has a little bit longer hair and is as soft as a babby ass. She has always had hair like that and she is all pit. Her papers are good, she just has really different hair than any of my other dogs. It'a actually kinda cool in my opinion. Everyone that pets her can't believe how soft she feels.

Thanks for the info on the hair and suport guy's. Her hair is soft as a babys ass lol and I really love her colors. She is going to the vet tommorow Im curious to see if they can give me a better idea of how old she is. She is somewhere bewteen 2 and 3months so I am told. I think she is prob a bit small for a 3month old but will see
