Terribly sad.......poor lil girl. As a parent, I can only imagine the horror.
But the bullshit part of it is, if the dogs were another breed (pit) this would be splashed all over the world.....

If the girl walked in the street and got hit by a car, it's the parents responsibility. The neighbors should not have to do anything, anyone goes into a yard with a fence, most dogs will think it's an intruder. The dogs should not be put to sleep, I feel sorry for the family but any 2 year old should never be out of sight period.

The dogs should not be put to sleep,
ARE YOU SERIOUS?????????
So devastating. When you're a parent of kids that little girl's age it is very hard to say if you would want the dogs put to sleep. My oldest son snuck out of the house when he was that little. Crawled out of his crib (he never had before) and went outside. I thought his crib was safe for him. I know the fear I felt before I found my son, I can't imagine what those parents felt to find their baby DEAD. That's their child, flesh and blood. Having a dog you love like a child is nothing like loving a child. I had dogs before kids and it's not even close.
I'm really not trying to start a big argument here, but unless you have a two year old, it's very easy to say that they should be watched every second. They should be but it's impossible. :(

Well my main point is that if a child is killed by an accident, it should not be anyone elses fault nor any other animal. I mean going into a fenced yard, offcourse the dogs may attack since they think it's an intruder. The dogs and the owners should not be at fault in this case. Also I don't have any kids but my dogs are in reality treated as such. My first 2 especially have been given everything, hundreds of toys, going out everywhere, sleeping in the bed, lots of attention, everything! I posted last week of when I ran in front of a train 5 weeks ago and saved my female "ZuZu". She ran off up a hill and sat down right on some tracks. Just then a train happened to be coming (just like a movie, why me?) By the time I ran up this big hill the train was already there and when I grabbed her I was looking dead at the train 1 second away from hitting us. I could almost feel that train touching us, my friend saw everthing and looked like a ghost while I was walking back. She was playing with my friends male pup and just took off for no reason, she's never done that before and was determined to get to those tracks to sit down, lol. Risking my life for my dog is the same thing I would have done if I had a kid. When it happened I did'nt even think about me getting killed, I just knew that I cared for her alot and been raising her since 5 weeks, she's 12 months now.
I understand about not blaming the dogs, dogs will be dogs. And accidents happen. I guess my main point is just that I really don't know if I would want the dogs put down.
On a lighter note, I think what you did for your dog was very heroic. And crazy lol

When I got my apartment I desided to take him. If another dog killed him I would want the dog to be put to sleep as well. Even though children should be watched 24/7 we all know that it can't happen. Hell, this can happen to another child, more greif that is not needed. When you have kids, or ever watch one thats close to you, you'll understand man...
Thanks Dominican King,
That's pretty much what I was trying to get across. And I DO watch my kids, Hell- I leave the door open to go to the bathroom so I can keep an ear out for them. Kids can be sneaky.
I'm overly emotional right now- I think it's reflecting in my posts.

crate traing crate trainng it'll work i swear by crate training
I have a yard kennel and when I am in the yard with the dogs and I have to go pick up a poo I put my 2 year old daughter in the kennel so she doesn't get knocked over..... seriously! lol
If my dogs killed a kid..... without a doubt they'd be put down. Hell..... if they bit a kid I'd put them down. Period.
It's not the breed that kill! its the deed!
I had a hard time sleeping after reading this article last night. Those dogs may not have intended to kill her, they might have started as playing. Big dogs can be scary and it may have been the girl's scream that set the dogs off like that. No one was there so nobody knows for sure, but the bottom line is they killed someone. They could do it again.
It's a shame because the owners were being responsible and were not at fault, and from what I got from the article, it seemed like their decision to euthanize their dogs. I don't think I would have to think twice if it were my dogs either.
However, if the parents tried to sue the owners of the dogs- THAT I think is wrong. Everybody is so "sue-happy" nowadays and feel they have to hold someone else accountable for unfortunate accidents. Hopefully the parents and the owners find peace. My prayers are with them all.

I'm confused, I know dogs should'nt kill a kid, but if someone walks into a fenced yard and the dogs attack, why should they be killed? Most dogs will treat anything coming into their yard without the owner there as an intruder, they are suppose to protect you and the house. I know in this case it was a 2 year old but some dogs may not understand age difference in humans, or atleast if they think it's an intruder. When I have kids I will not feel any different, it's a shame that a kid was killed but it was the dogs yard and their property. They should not be killed for protecting their home and family from what they may have thought was an intruder. Why is it when a pit gets loose and shot alot of people said too bad, it was an irresponsible owner but when a kid gets loose and killed everyone feels bad? Which is it? irresponsible parents and owners when something gets loose or just an accident that should'nt be anyones fault? Just curious because people are saying different things because a kid got loose and when I posted about the pit that got loose and killed people said that pits should never get away if you are a responsible owner.

point is that people need to quit posting dog attacks of any kind on here..you wanna read about them then just look on the net.there everywhere.people need to get there heads out there ass and post somethin informative.no pun intended.
Well excuse me while I pull my head out of my ass.... but there is a reason I posted that beyond some sheer sense of morbidity. People who are very active in fighting BSL can use tragedies like this to help give politicians examples that fatal dog attacks are not a breed issue. It is actually very informative to those fighting the good fight but it's importance obviously didn't occur to you. I have a two year old daughter so trust me...... this was not a fun thing for me to post.
Bleu, You've really grown on me, meaning I like you. You really show an open and honest mind on just about everything...but this
When I have kids I will not feel any different,
Yikes, I used to think that way too. So before you have children you can preach, berate, advise etc...but enjoy it because it's the last time you'll know everything about parenting. I say that with tongue in cheek. It all changes when you have kids. Not being nasty to you. Just true.
Why is it when a pit gets loose and shot alot of people said too bad, it was an irresponsible owner but when a kid gets loose and killed everyone feels bad?
Again, when you are a parent you will I understand. One thing I never want in this lifetime is to outlive my kids. I don't know if I could go on if one of them were killed by man or beast.
Also I DO feel bad when a dog gets loose and gets killed. I have had it happen, I know the pain and I know that it's tragic accident. My first dog got hit by a car. Did I sue the people even though they were driving dangerously over the speed limit? Or because they didn't even TRY not to hit her? NO. Absolutely not. My dog should not have been out of the yard, and I was irresponsible. My point there is people like me DO feel bad when a dog gets killed.
Do I think a human life is worth more, well that depends on the human- but a baby's life- there's nothing in this world worth more, my friend. Some day you'll see it (and feel it) and say "damn, that Kay...She was right" ;)

I love my dogs but they do not compare to the love of a child, yeah it is true the parents should watch there kid but there are such things as accidents, and right now any child can walk in my back yard it doesn't matter who they are my dogs know the difference between children and intruding adults. I have two children and i would kill the dogs myself!
I am really glad that this was not Pits and i hate to use it like this but I am going to print it and when the BSL comes up take it to Atlanta, Ga.

Well everytime someone has told me that I will understand when i'm in that position, they've been right. So i'll have to believe you all on this one. I guess since I only have dogs for now, they seem to be like my kids, but maybe when I have kids i'll feel differently towards them then my dogs.
