i was just wondering because i have heard so many opinions on this, what does everyone think about using a muzzle to make my pup stop biting, it makes her really mad, but when i take it off she is calm and knows that if she bites she is going to get the muzzle again. i just don't want to make her mad so she becomes mean, what do you guys think?

well i have tried so many things, i ignored her for two days so she would learn that i am in charge and it worked for like a week but now she is back to biting again, she never bites hard, its more play biting, but she doesn't realize how strong she is and some times gets really excited and bites a little too hard, i just want to teach her that she can't bite at all. thanks for the opinion,

she has 30,000 chew toys, bones, animals, ropes, she has a whole arsonal of tennis balls, she just gets mad when i don't play with her right away, she needs to learn that she has to wait sometimes

Just keep ignorning her. There are A LOT of threads on this one. Unless they got deleted.(maybe they did) Just ignore her and don't make any eye contact. Contact either Texasbulldogs or LadyRampage. They had a good thread on this situation.

I think you need to enroll in a training class with your dog. Somehow, someway the message is not getting across to your dog. Also, I think the muzzle is a copout for a way to get around training. And for those people who must muzzle their dogs (not those whose cities like Ontario require them) in public & at the vets so they don't bite people, need to think a little more about the pink stuff (euthasol).

well that is why i was asking, she is my first puppy, and she is really well trainned, 98% of the time she is wonderful, she listens to every word i say, but sometimes she gets over excited and that is when she doesn't want to listen or gets a little bit snappy, i think it is just her puppy time, i am hoping she grows out of it, and i wanted to take her to a training class but all the classes are really far from house and lucy gets really car sick and throws up all over my car if she is in there for more than 10 mins.

I"m not trying to be harsh in any way! :) It just seems to me that your pup is viewing you as more of another playmate than as an "alpha". Training classes are great, & even if you can't go, it doesn't cost anything to call a trainer & ask him/her a question. Some will even come out to your house for a relatively inexpensive fee if you wanted. I would at least call one to see where the miscommunication is.

Oh, and for the carsickness, you can try some benadryl about 45 min. before you leave or even 1/2 tablet of dramamine. Also, no food for 4 hrs previous to a car ride & no water for about 2 hrs before. Good luck.

really benadryl won't hurt my pup, thanks i'll try that, and yeah she thinks i am a playmate, but she is getting better, i'll try and find a trainer
