View Full Version : Pit Girl for Adoption!

I don't know the age of this girl, some where between 4-8 yrs. old. It is hard to tell. She is a brindle and white girl, real short and stocky with cropped ears. In these pictues she looks bigger than what she really is. Her shoulder is at my knee. In a week and a half my vet will spay her, (she is in heat at the moment). We've tested this girl on many different levels and she gets along with other dogs quite well, she had no reaction towards my foster min pin, or Brock, a lab/pit mix neutered male. But, this could be also because she is in heat. She does wonderfuly with people and behaves herself while in the house. For her small size, she is only about 35-40 lbs, she is extreamly powerful and would need someone that is equaly powerful to handle her. While walking she pulls like a mad woman and without proper control could easily pull someone down the street. She wouldn't do that great with small children, she likes to jump...alot...and could easily knock over a child with her antics, not intentionaly but she is quite a rambucious girl! It seems all this girl wants is to be loved, and she will give someone the most love she can give in return. She is the kind of gal that would do anything for you as long as you show her some love in the end.
She has a pecular scar on her muzzle that streaches to her nose, this scar makes her look like she is constanly growling. She really isn't the scar just makes it appear like that. Her bottom right canine is half missing as well, the rest of her teeth look horrible as well, but after a few cleaning sessions they look about a hundred times better. (The sessions were interesting...she didn't know what the heck we were doing to her. She was also confused at the whole idea of a bath...but dealt with it quite well.)
We found this girl on my street. She had been wandering for about a week and every night I would feed her. David fixed a place out back for her, and we took her in. This is when I found out that she was in heat. We have an inkling who the owner is, however this person is not the greatest pet owner... Therefore, we are trying to rehome her so that this wonderful gal can live in a much more sutibule enviroment.
I'm not going to charge anything for this girl, her spay and shots are going to cost me $60. However, if anyone out of state would like to adopt her, and I aprove of you, the potential adopter would have to pay to somehow have her transported to them.
On to the pictues of this wonderful girl who is looking for a permanat home!

After we put them on her she didn't try to take them off. I thought she would be messing with them, but she left them on. ;) I think she realized if she wants house-time she wears panties, LOL. I need to get her some frillie ones from Petsmart!! Oh! That's a good idea! Thanx for the inspiration!
(Chelsea runs off to petsmart...)

Just wanted to update everyone on her. She is still available for adoption, I think most people see her and are scared because of her cropped ears and scars. So, she doesn't get much interest. She has been spayed had all her shots and is on monthly heartworm prevention. She is listed on PBRC as well as the Pets and People website. Pets and People is a local no-kill rescue here in Oklahoma, they did the low cost spay for her and the shots. They have been a real help to me, even listing her on their website.
PBRC: http://pbrc.net/dogpages/south/mona15306.html (http://pbrc.net/dogpages/south/mona15306.html)

I sometimes wonder if all pit bulls have these insanly long tounges...LOL

Sicko.... LOL Mona is some-whatly family oriented, small kids is a no-no. She may only 40 lbs but she has the strenght of a 70 lb dog! This girl is a tough cookie that likes to jump...alot... We're working on the jumping thing though, it's gotten ALOT better, but it seems she just can't help herself, LOL. Also any kind of livestock is a no-no too... I was out in the yard playing with her the other day and some horses went by the house. She jumped my fence with me standing there and tired the grab the horses neck! The horse freaked out and tried to stomp her and she kept going after the horse. I had to run after her and drag her back and put her back on her tie out. Now if I have her off of it I have to watch for any critters going down the street.

I'm just going around trying to update Mona stuff. She still needs a home.
I've been working with her off leash and she is responding quite well. She knows sit, stay, down, and crawl so far. She could be a little better at them, and if I keep working with her she will get them down without a problem. She is really excitable so it is kinda funny to watch her sit 'cus her butt just keeps moving while she sits. It takes all her will power to sit and not run to you. She is also housetrained and crate-trained as well, so no problems there.
Here is a few pictures of her:

Thank you for passing the word along! I really appresiate it!
I think it is a combination of her cropped ears, scars, age, and enthusiasum that makes people not interested in her.
Yesterday I had her loose in the yard with me doing some commands and a horse went by...I told her to stay and she did!!! She didn't run after the horse! She turned around and looked at it and then turned back to me waiting for the release command. :D I was sooo proud of her! That is a huge accomplishment for her!!!
Oh she looks like a very sweet girl, I hope that she can find a home soon.

My brother just called me and I think I may have found a home for her! ;) We are bringing Mona with us on vacation down to South Padre Island and a friend of my brothers down there recently lost her pit bull and said she wouldn't mind having another. So, I'm gonna bring Mona with us too and check out her place and make sure that everything is alright before I let her take Mona.
The good part is since my brother knows them everytime I take a trip down there I can stop in and see "Mo Mo". And my brother can check up on her to make sure everything is going all right. On top of that Mo Mo would be a house dog which is what I was looking for. :) Not only that she's had a pit bull before so she is experiance owner and knows what to expect of them. (Which helps my nerves a bit as well.) Yea!
That's great, good luck with the adoption!

Well, I just got back from vacation on Friday. I really hate that 11 hr. drive!! The pups did great on the drive not one problem.
My brother actually ended up keeping Mona, LOL. It was like love at first site. hee hee. We got there and he came up saw her petted her and gave her a hug and then they were inseperable. So, the person she was going to go to didn't get her, LOL. She didn't mind so much though. So while I was down there Nick (my brother) and I went shopping for all of Mona's new stuff. Mona just adores him too so I think that it ended up alright. He said that as soon as this red tide stuff is gone he's going to take her down to the beach alot, take her in car rides, etc. He swears up and down that the salt water will do her good. ;)
Yeah for a happy ending! :D
