What amount of weight would be sufficient for a 1-2 mile drag walk every other day for a 50 lb dog? I'm thinking 10 lbs, but I don't want too much or too little weight as I'm trying to build up stamina. Thanks in advance for replies.

i was reading on a weight pulling site and they where saying that you sould just start out with 3 or 4 lbs. and on slowly build them up over months an they said you will know when you should stop
you dont want your dog to be staining or really having to work at the end of the walk. i would go with more then 10 to 15 after you really get your dog in shape just to be safe

10 perscent of the dog's body weight is what I have been told.

Well, I didn't think this thread would get any replies...
I bought a sled at our last show, it weighs about 10 lbs. He's doing really well with the weight of the sled alone, he doesn't strain in the harness. I've read the weight pull section of the APBT Conformation site several times now, very informative.
No worries on his age though, he's 2 years and we just started training. He was a little chubby after the winter, but with the weight pulling plus his normal walking he's in better shape. I'll have to get some better pictures up soon.
Thanks for all the replies. :)

I've ben told you start off with 5 lbs. and go up every 2 weeks until you hit 20 lbs. and never go any higher. But you use a 5 foot cable or chain
