I will be picking up my new puppy tonight!!!! First dog ever!!!!!!
I have been doing tons of homework on this decision. I jsut bought a new home here and so Busa (his name) will have a nice new castle to grow in.

I hope to learn even more here.

I got him from www.bluepit.net (http://www.bluepit.net) He is 8 weeks old and is Fawn Blue and white. he is the pick of the litter as well. i will post pics here tomorrow.

So are some of the best things i can do to spoil my new pup?
Thanks all

Teach me to be a great owner of this amazing animal.

Not to sound mean, but that site said adopt your puppy now for $1000.00!!! Seems like they are trying to avoid being called peddlers.Thats an awful high adoption fee.

what is a peddler? what do u mean about the adoption thing?A peddler is someone who breeds and sells for profit. They are not breeding to try to better the breed and they will sell to anyone with money. A lot of the serious breeders keep whole litters or just let them out to certain people who they know will do the breed right.

I think what they were talking about on the adoption thing is about how their site it worded. Usually adopting and animal mean you get it from a shelter or rescue. Here they are just using it for the price of the pup. using it for the price of the pup.

I will be picking up my new puppy tonight!!!! First dog ever!!!!!!

A mellow, nonperformance bred pit bull, is a lot a dog to handle if you never owned a dog before. So you need to take a crash course in responsible dog ownership!!! Make sure that he is never off leash in any public place that requires dogs to be on leash. Also please get the dog neutered/spayed. Read up as much as possible about the breed!!!

Be aware that your dog may become dog aggressive when it matures. Make sure you take your pup to obedience training classes as soon as he is old enough to be around other pupies, you vet will tell you when that is. Finally, read as much as you can about canine behaviour. If you speak their 'language' its much easier to get your point across. The Monks of New Skete books are a great start for a beginner. Most of all have fun.
