Bitch eats pups everytime

An old man in Okla.who bred true Jim Williams bloodlines back in the 70' & 80's had a huge white bitch that always ate her pups sooner or later and she was a monster naturally,always looked like she was in a keep but never was,I waited ten years on that bitch and so did he but it never failed and I always wondered what the hell was up with that..What causes that...

I have heard it was because the bitch senses something wrong with them. Older dogs will do this if they are unfit to raise them. Some bitches are just staight up unstable....lol

unstable dog, nervous dog, too much going on around the bitch, not right puppies, too many people "looking" at the puppies in the whelping box, not secure enough whelping area,too young of dog, too many litters, too old of dog...lots of reasons...:confused:

Well, I was told that a bitch will lack calcium (and other nutrients)during and after birth, which may cause them to eat the pups to replenish..

I remember my uncle having this inbred bitch who was just a bad mom..would not tolerate any otheranimal life around her space.
