Doc H. put out a magazine entitled The Truth back in the 80's, and this is where this contreversy came from..It was later reprinted in Rushin B's magazine The PitBull Reporter (not in publication) around 01-02..
The dog who's pedigree that was in question was Hyde's Bloody Sunday, which was Chinamans' grandmother..
On Chinamans' paperwork it states that Bloody Sunday was off Bullyson ex. Carver's One Eye, when in fact (according to the author) she is off Carver's Pistol ex. Rorex' Black Lady, which would mean that both Chinamans' sire and dam were off of sisters Sugar & Bloody Sunday who were off Pistol ex. Black Lady..
There was also a rumor that Trouble wasnt Chinamans' sire, instead a son of Rascal Jr was..
CZ also wrote and sent a article about Black Lady to the late Don Mayfield's magazine (PitDog Report) back in '77 claiming Sugar & Bloody Sunday to be off her..

I thought you would know
I guess I hadn't ever heard that before.I figure Chinaman's ped is right, but if not after nearly 32 years after he was born it don't make alot of difference. He'll still be considered by most to be one of the best dogs to ever live.

i think paper work for dogs is all an estimation for the most part. Back in the Carver days was when the sport was really competitive as far as boxing and breeding. A mans word went a long way and wasn't questioned much, and many times there was no paper work on a dog. You believed what the old timer told you, right or wrong, you believed that the dog he gave you was bred the way he said it was. I'm sure some of those guys made up bullshit pedigrees to get rid of some unwanted dogs. Even today people still hang papers, alot of these pretty pedigrees people post on these forums are fake just so they can sell some pups. I've seen pedigrees that would have a dog listed as 1w and then 6 months later he's a 4w without ever posting wins inbetween. Then the poor guy posts a photo of a conditioned dog without a tooth mark on him, and says open to public stud $800. This bogus crap happens all the time.

There are a lot of people who love chinaman, and garners stuff, and thats fine.
My pawpaw, pre 1976, had shown his share of bulldogs. He actually mentioned Chinaman, and his reputation as a manbiter. WHile there are dogmen who would keep a manbiter that was worth a bet, pawpaw did not condone this.
He would never have put a ref in a position to get bitten by a bulldog, and a manbiter, regardless of the quality in the ring, was culled without fail.
How does this effect us now?
i guess some things never change, and I think that pawpaw was right then, and would still be right today.

Id say you would have to been breeding a long time. It took about 20 years longer really, for me to cover a 6gen ped. And you are right if you didnt stick them you dont know. As well is if you didnt see them you dont know.

I just dont think I would have put chinaman down. Think like this if they had look at all the great dogs we would have never had today. Its alot harder to cull an ace than one thinks. You learn how to handle them and stay out of there way.
