Edmonton,Alberta, Canada -- Someone has shown dogged determination in stalling Triton the pit bull's date with the executioner, breaking him out of the Kamloops pound for a second time. The jail break was masterminded by someone who smashed a window at the pound early yesterday, city bylaw services supervisor Mike LaPierre said.
Only Triton, which had been judged to be a danger to the public, was missing.
Triton's owner, Jackie Robillard, appeared in provincial court later in the day to ask for an extension in the city's case to have the dog euthanized while she consults with a lawyer.
Triton's troubles with the city began in September when he was caught running at large, twice.
He was taken into custody in October, after he lunged at two passersby - one a police officer. The city decided Triton was dangerous and kept him behind bars.
But, on Halloween weekend, someone broke into the pound and busted out with Triton.
Undeterred, city RCMP found the dog a week later while at an apartment on an unrelated matter.
This time, though, the delinquent doggy has remained in custody while the city sought a destruction order - until now.
RCMP are investigating the break-in, and the city will continue with its case against Robillard and Triton - with or without the dog.
