I have a few questions about the user interface.

What do the stars under the username mean?

What does "reputation" mean?

Why is it that some people have what appear to be alias' under their user name?

How do the points work? I assume you get some everytime you post something? And if you earn enough you can purchase the ability to look at.....what?

I have 600 something. Should I try to purchase stuff (if so, what?) or should I hold onto them?

As gator said, the stars under the usernames represent the amount of posts you have according to your usergroup. Regular members start off with gray stars then work their way to blue and then on to gold. Premium members start off with blue stars and work their way to gold. Once there are a lot of people that have a good amount of posts, there will be more stars and rankings added.

The "alias" under people's username is called a user title. The title changes depending on what type of member you are, how many posts you have, etc. unless it is changed. To use a custom user title, you must be a premium member or a staff member.
