View Full Version : Eddington blood line?
Not to make any trouble, but I am seriously interested if any one knows what is up with these dogs? I inquired about some puppies yesterday, the guy emailed me back with his website and well, I will not be purchasing a puppy. The male was huge and looked like a mastiff. I have read mixed reviews in the past, some people swear it is simply an "Eddington" trait.

After Edgar Eddington was the national weight pulling champion for 12 years in a row, he was given the go ahead to cross the American Bulldog, and Dog de Bordeaux into his Freeman bloodline pit bulls. He was given a single registry for "Wanna be a Whopper" and the Eddington line of XXL pit bulls was born.
Since then the line has been bred back into quality(larger) pit bull bloodlines and has been dominating weight pull circles.
There is a great deal of controversey surrounding these dogs, in fact Mr. Eddington was actually beaten to death with his own weight pull trophy. His murder has never been solved.
My ADBA registered pit bull has the "whopper" in his pedigree 5 generations back on his dams' top side.
Other than being 80lbs at 10 months, my dog appears to be all pit bull....but the truth is that Eddington pit bulls are mixed.

That is very good information to know! I have heard very mixed reviews from all sides. I have always personally wanted a bull mastiff but HE says no way they are ugly! LOL I think they are beautiful. I know it's a different dog from a mastiff but I like them all. It surely makes a little bit more sense to me now and I appreciate you sharing your infomation.
 Beaten to death with his own trophy!!! THAT'S BRUTAL!!

Yes, it is amazing just how worked up people get about this subject. At first I of course did not want to believe my registered dog is mixed, but after researching and looking at the dogs(not mine but tight bred Eddingtons) it is the only logical conclusion. The info I posted originally came from Tommygun of Motorcity Pits in Michigan.
I have no plans to breed him or anything so it makes no difference, he is without a doubt the smartest pit bull I have owned.(he is my 3rd) and is strikingly handsome.
