I got this new soap for my dogs, that is a bath bar for dogs. I have used it on several of my dogs, with absolutely no problems. It works amazing, and kills any fleas or ticks in less than 10 seconds. I have used it on my little dogs, big dogs, puppy, and old dogs. It works beautifully.

Yesterday was the first time I used this product on Gidget, my 10mth old Miniature Pinscher. I washed her, towel dried her, used the forced air dryer on her, cleaned her ears, and then took her outside to go potty. She did her business and we went back in the house. She was sitting next to me on the bed for about five minutes, then she stood up with this confused look on her face, and threw up a little (looked like foamy water). Then it all went downhill from there.

Gidget's legs became very rigid, and she started loosing her balance/coordination. Her responsiveness rapidly decreased. In less than 10 minutes we had a little dog that was completely stiff, unable to balance or hold her head up, was completely unresponsive to sounds, and her eyes were completely glazed over. I thought we had lost her for sure.

Now during this time, with my free hand, I am speed dialing every vet or homeopath that I have saved in my phone. I finally got a hold of Dr. Wessner, explained the situation, and followed his advise. 'Immediatedly soak Gidget in Epsom Salts water (preferably warm), give her Nux Vomica, and Activated Charcoal.' Within a few minutes in the water, Gidget started responding to my voice again. I kept her in there until my husband got back with the other stuff, about 15 minutes. I then gave her 3 charcoal capsules and a nux vomica. Thirty minutes later she was 90% back to herself.

Today, Gidget is at work with my so I can keep an eye on her. She is doing very well, almost like nothing ever happened.

Gidget is a very "licky" dog. Apparently, she licked up some of the soap either from my hands or herself during her bath. The soap is made with a mix of Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Shea Butter. It also contains a couple of essential oils including: lemon eucalyptus and tea tree.

Remember when using even natural products (especially ones containing essential oils) they can be very dangerous, even deadly for animals as well as people.

Where did you get the product? Name? (Perchance, its not the homemade product being offered by a member of another forum, is it? I ordered a few bars of that, but haven't gotten them yet.)

The product is something that I carry in my store. It works extremely well, but apparently should never be used on a dog that licks the soap. The essential oil that caused all of the problems was Tea Tree Oil.

Oh, okay. You had me worried for a bit there. I think I'll still go back and make sure that the person I'm getting my shampoo bars from isn't using that stuff. Thanks for the heads-up!

Tea tree oil is also a good antiseptic solution for minor cuts but shouldnt be used on dogs due to licking.
