Horrible...sure...
Hanging...I hope you jest...

NO perons life is worth that of an animal...no matter what they have done to them...
Dont let them own animals any more and let that be it, thats the only punishment that should ever be for any animal abuse situation...

its sad you feel that way. my dogs are my family. i know there are quite a few people here that feel their dogs are more comparable to livestock but i seriously doubt anyone here would wish this sort of treatment on an animal.

Anyone that would let a bulldog starve or die of exposer is a scumbag undeserving of owning this breed..I know of situations where both of these atrocities have occured..Its a shame..

I agree that a animals life is not worth that of a human, and would never advocate some of the crazy sentences being handed out today, but in extreme cases (starving, mutilation, etc)I think people should have to "pay their dues" depending on their history..

Please show me where I said I wished it on the animals....I said punishment should be their right to own animals taken away...First thing I said was it was horrible...

A couple of points. I value a good quality animal over a piece of crap human any day of the week. Some people are worthless and some animals are quite valuable. Second. people that do this sort of thing bear keeping an eye on. Its well known in psychology that people with a tendency to be cruel to animals will treat people the same way if given the chance. I think the sentence should be worse than not owning animals although hanging might be a touch harsh.

It should be jail time with hard labor, and supervised probation with counseling (to find out how deep the various pathologies at work might be) AND not owning animals.

I'm sorry, I agree w/ Marty. Hang the SOB. I say this b/c as pennsooner pointed out, those who abuse animals often go on to abuse humans. In fact, abuse of animals is often their first step toward things like murder & rape. IMO we have enough murderers, rapists, molesters, etc. out there as it is. So I say cull this worthless rascal from the gene pool now & save us taxpayers some money down the road as well as a hapless victim & their family a lifetime of anguish.

JMHO ...

That is some terrible treatment right there. I wish the sorry excuse for a human much less a dogman or woman would go without eating like those dogs did. Those dogs will never live a comfortable and ''confident life'' of a pitbull.

I love these dogs for their confidence and loyalty. Someone has broken the spirit of these animals and it may never be revived 100%

Come on folks have an oz. of heart for these dogs

as was already pinted out, if this person did it to dogs, who says they wouldn't do it to their own children? having compassion does not equate to a PETA mentality either. in fact, quite the contrary considering how many animals PETA kills every year. animals certainly should not be afforded the same rights as humans, but that doesn't mean we need to be callous and cold hearted about it either.

That fact is that what was done to those dogs was horrible to no end. These people should be punished for their doings. That said, i totally agree with MASONDOGS in

"Hanging...I hope you jest...

I have little doubt these dogs were intentionally left to starve. Yet, if the culprits have families and happen to be the only bread winners in them, why punish and make their spouses and children suffer for it? If these human maggots go to jail, they cannot support their family. This leads to their families getting into the welfare system.

Once in the system, we all start to feel the effect of this so-called justice.

Like Masondogs said, do not allow them to own pets ever again AND force them to do A LOT (thousands of hours) of community service and volunteer time to animal shelters (cleaning poop, etc). This way, no other humans are affected by this gross neglect.

Marty, the first thing that came to mind when reading "I say hang them on town square and let the public watch as they did in old times " was the KK Klan... I shut my eyes after reading it.

This is simple. If they will treat their dogs like this they will also mistreat their families. The idea of a person capable of great cruelty to an animal turning around a being a basically kind person otherwise is very rare, at least in this culture.
Like I mentioned in an earlier post, this sort of behavior is a fairly strong sign a person is a psychopath. Psychopaths tend to not take real good care of their families. In fact, the abuse of animals is often used by such people as a "lesson" to family members to toe the line or this is in store for you.

I don't care if their white, black, green, or yellow... they need to be dealt with severely

I can't stand to see dogs suffer, either, but I do agree that a human life is "more important" than an animal's life, so you can't take a human life for an animal's life. They should definitely get a good amount of prison time and some nice fines tacted on as well, though, because they are a bunch of dumba$$es.

All prison time will do to a person like that is make them a more skilled criminal with more connections. It will also mean that we (tax paying honest people) will have to shell out more money to keep these worthless bags of shit in prison. I do however agree with thousands and thousands of hours of community service, stiff fines, and never owning a animal of any sort ever again. If they are caught in violation of any of these conditions then a more severe punishment shall be delt out catch my drift;)

Heck, I would be fine with them getting that punishment as well. That would work just fine in my opinion.

This is horrible, but can also be seen as a little positive press for the breed. Before anyone gets mad, I mean how abused these dogs were by humans and still show no signs of human agression. How many other breeds could boast that.

That's sick...I don't see how people can let a dog get like that...(even though it happens all too often)
