SPOKANE WA, - Burglars busted in pit bull heist
Four people have been detained after they attempted to free by force a number of pit bulls from the Spokane County Animal Shelter.
Sunday night deputies were responding to a call of a suspicious vehicle at the shelter and found an Oldsmobile parked across the street. In the back seat was a pit bull inside a crate marked "Spokane County".
"Suspecting this was a clue, they investigated further and ultimately discovered that the four occupants had been commissioned to steal pit bulls for a suspect who planned on using them in fights," Sergeant Dave Reagan of the Spokane County Sheriff's Office stated in a media release.
The deputies determined that the people had successfully broken into the shelter Saturday night and had stolen two pit bulls and were in the process of stealing a third Sunday night when they were arrested.
Joshua Tingley, 19, Amanda Palmen, 20, and Ginny Peck, 20, were all arrested on two counts each of Second Degree Burglary. A fourth suspect, a 16-year-old boy, was also arrested on two counts of Second Degree Burglary and booked into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center.
