you guys ever heard of that before...
thats what one american pull dog owner said about his dog..
that is Eddington's A/A Wanna Be A Whopper. He was bred by Edgar Eddington. Whopper was a cross between American Bulldog, Bullmastiff, Dogue de Bordeaux and Pit. Edgar Eddington was given the go ahead by Kate Greenwood President of the ADBA to do the crossings to create Whopper. So it wasn't done on the sly, it was allowed. Whopper was ADBA registered. He is RIP now. He was a wonderful American Pulldog. I don't really consider these dogs like the old school game bred APBT, they are a newer style I like to call American Pulldog. But a lot of these og weight pullers want to continue to call them APBT, so whatever is whatever.

The ADBA has been registering these dogs for awhile..I dont know if KG gave anyone the go ahead so to speak, but its plain for the eye to see that these are not APBT's..Just wait until the ADBA puts the winners from the nationals on the cover of the Gazette..I bet half of the dogs pictured arent even APBT's..
DL wrote a article about the whole "pull dog" phenomina that seems to have overtaken the weight pull events in a magzine that has since folded..It was a good read..I'll see if I can dig it up..

Can you post a pic of one of these dogs
I have heard of the dogs. They were called "Oklahoma Pulldogs" when I heard of them.
As for Whopper, here is what I was told. He was supposedly sired by a brindle APBT & out of a red mask French Mastiff bitch & was bred by a fellow named Edwin Goodwin. Eddington supposedly got a pup off this litter (Whopper) & began pulling him in the ADBA. The agreement was he was given registration by the Greenwoods to pull but he was never supposed to be bred. But he became so popular that his owner DID breed him & the ADBA of course had to register the pups. If they refused it would reveal their involvment in knowingly registering a mixed breed dog as pure.
How much of this is true I don't know. There are said to be 2 ppl who really know the truth on Whopper & those 2 are Mrs. Eddington & Rick Kunze. Some say Mr. Blackwell from Blackwell's American Bulldogs also may have a hand in it.
But none of them are talking. ;)
Here is a pic of Whopper:

I heard from the rumor mill that Whopper was out of an American Bulldog and a Dogue de Bordeaux (French Mastiff), and that he wasn't APBT at all. I'm thinking "they" said Whopper's sire was Dick the Bruiser?
I do not know is that would be true or not. Could be. But Whopper was about 110 lbs. Aren't most Johnson male ABs around 130 lbs? I know DDBs can range from 130 to 200 lbs. I would assume a AB x DDB mix would produce a dog who is a heckuva lot bigger than 110 lbs.

Ive seen some Johnson males vary from 80 to 140. I had a hybrid, Scott/Johnson and he weighed 115 fat. Matter of fact, guy that lives across the street from me has a Johnson male that is about 85. Also found some DDB females a 100 lbs.
Here's a Johnson male, Johnson's Goliath, 2.5 years old and 108 lbs.

So I guess it's possible
