LUGOFF (WLTX) – A young girl is in the hospital after being attacked and bitten by a dog in Lugoff Monday afternoon.
According to family members, the girl was playing in her front yard when a dog came out of no where and attacked the girl. The dog bit the five-year-old and took off.
The dog was taken to the Walter Crow Animal Shelter in Kershaw county. It's believed to be a Chesapeake retriever/mastiff mix.
The director of the shelter says these dogs, while large, aren't known for being aggressive. However, she's heard the dog may have been on a chain, and that would make the animal more aggressive.
The dog will remain at the shelter until a judge decides the animal's fate.
WLTX.com will have more information as it becomes available.

Don't u think this article helps BSL and the chaining laws? It says it right in the article that the dog might have been aggressive because it was chained so i don't see how this article is helping anyone but the enemy

i never said it was helping fight bsl. i just posted it because i find it ridiculous that they say chaining a dog makes it aggressive... and now that they are trying to pass this law they are always including little comments like that in articles or on the news

gotcha............yea well this aint nothin new, they've been using BS "FACTS" for years to try and pass these BS laws. If u can attend the meeting there is a college university that did a study and tests on the difference in chaining a dog and a dog in a kennel, it goes to show that a dog is happier on a chain than behind a fenced kennel. If u can go to the hearing i'm sure someone can pull up the thread that has the link and u could bring it with u
