How many of you like to fish. We fish a lot. We go after Crappy and Striped Bass. I know fishermen or women don't like to talk about their spots, but if any of you want to share places to catch, that's cool. We fish on the Saluda River near Greenwood, SC. This is a few of the many pics we have.

Big saltwater fisherman...since I'm from Guam. Although I have done my share of freshwater fishing when I was staying state side (catfish, trout, large mouth bass, blue gills.)

Crappy is what we go for mostly. Here in Pa we go to Core Creek Park right outside of philly on Route 1. Trout is good also but for some reason I like the taste of catfish better than trout. Most of the time when I go for Trout I always end up getting catfish :D!

for Crappy, I use jigs and minnows
Trout, I use power bait, meal worms, and sometimes corn (sometimes I get catfish)

no sh*t thats my spot homie, i've been going to core creek for years man, i take my nephew there to catch as many trout as he can handle opening day, corn is the best for them there. I've caught some pretty good size catfish out of that lake, i think the biggest was a 15 pound channel, i've also caught a 30 pound carp and some pretty nice size bass too. Yo man we're gonna have to go fish sometime soon

I've been fishing my whole life too. Thats just about the only thing my Dad ever tought me. That and how to camp. I live in the Fishing mekka of the world so it's 2nd nature to me. Salt water is where its at though. They make this lure called a "Gotcha" plug that KILLS the Spanish Makeral and blue fish off of the Jax Beach Pier. I filled a cooler up many of days with those little things. Boi, one of these days you're gonna have to make a trip down here. I don't know if you'd want to go home. :)

lol i feel ya, i fished down in FL a few years ago on a vacation, caught a few nice size mahi mahi. We aint got it that bad up here, got some huge musky and pike which i think are by far the hardest fighting freshwater fish.

I've gotten deep into the sport since I started last year. I fish off of a railroad bridge that sit above open water with nothing to get snagged on since I dont have a boat. I'm hoping this year with all the new goodies I got that I get something bigger. I have yet to catch anything over 5lbs but I used only nightcrawlers and fished off the banks. This year, I got a new spot, and new gear.

i'm bout to start doing some fishing, it's bout time for the white perch "crappie to some" to start bedding up. go catch me a few messes of slabs. i remember the first time i went white perch fishing we caught 80something keepers and we caught over a hundred. in bout 30 minutes. between 3 of us. had to run to the bait shop to get more minnows. turkey season coming up, so we can't hog hunt because you can't run dogs during turkey season. river is up right now, i would go put out some lines but i got class monday-thursday for the next 10 weeks or so. and try to catch me some tabbys and blue cats. may try that this weekend if i can get out of work lol. i love bluegill/bream fishing, but when you catch em it aint much there to eat. i love when it gets time to do some topwater bass fishing. catch many a large mouth on them topwaters.

My Father was a fisherman and a pilot and it was easy for me to fall in love with fishing and flying. I taught it to my girls and they have in turn taught it to their boys. It's always been a big part of our lives. I have done the deep sea thing for red snapper and fished most lakes in the south for crappy, catfish and bluegill. Now we fish the rivers for the big rock fish. I have never been trout fishing though but want to. I hear NC is good for that. Hubby catches a lot of the rock fish on top water. I use a fluke mostly, just have to keep it moving in the current so you don't hang on the bottom. Those big rocks are hell. When I first started, he would put a big float about three feet up the line so I couldn't get hung on the bottom, now i have graduated to just the fluke or bucktail and do pretty good.

I love to fish, been fishing as long as I can remember, hunting too. Here in Va. we have tons of places to fish. I fish the ocean, Chesapeake Bay, and the James river. Some freshwater too. We catch tuna, mahi, wahoo, rock fish, and the ocassional billfish on the ocean. In the bay and river we catch flounder, rockfish, tataug, drum(red and black),bluefish, trout, and all kinds of smaller fish. so needless to say we do our fair share of puttn lines in the water.

Man, you must be outside your mind. Sheepshead is the best eating fish in the ocean!Whoa bro, remember I am in Iowa no Ocean here, I think Sheephead in the river is something different, if its the same fish then the saltwater in the Ocean must season that shit or something because the ones in the river tasted like crap. Unless its just one of those fish that dont fry well like catfish does, you know some fish dont like oil and they fall apart and taste funny in oil....so I might have cooked it wrong.... but I have had it more than once and everytime Id have to say it was awful...maybe in foil with lemon and butter next time???. What do the ones your talking about look like and range in.... in size? The Sheephead I am talking about have a funky forhead slope and are anywhere from 1-2 feet on average in the river and SILVER color maybe a little two tone in there but I am colorblind so it looks silver to me....also some maybe bigger if older but not common in my experiance. What are you talking about, is it the same fish?

You guys and gals with all your fancy snappers, sailfish, shark, tuna and such. Fishing in all these exotic locations. Well lawdee da da!!! Think you're better than the rest of us! How bout some good old catfish and carp, that's what i'm talkin bout baby!

LOL! Actually I used to do a lot of fishing growing up as a kid down in FL. Caught plenty of jack, few snook, one or two cuda, a permit. Hooked a very large tarpon once and a trophy sized snook, you guessed it, didn't land either one. But it was fun. Also did some bass fishing, biggest one around seven lbs. The best part for me was just being outside.

I'd love to catch a big old flathead, channel cat or large carp. Just for fun, I'd release it. Or even a big musky or salmon out on the West coast. Maybe one day.

Here is a Identification of the fish I am talking about, looks like the name of "Sheephead" is just another common name for The "Fresh Water Drum"

Fresh Water Fish Identification

http://www.chitown-angler.com/fishid/pics/drum.gif

Freshwater Drum

COMMON NAMES: Freshwater drum, Sheephead, Grunter, Silver bass, Gray bass

SCIENTIFIC NAME: Aplodinotus grunniens

IDENTIFICATION: Freshwater drum are silver-gray in color with a mouth that points down, and a rounded tail. Skeletal features are unique, with the skull heavily reinforced and large ear bones, with a characteristic "L" on one side.

RANGE AND HABITAT: The freshwater drum inhabit deeper pools of rivers and prefer large lakes that are less than 60 feet deep.

LIFE HISTORY: Freshwater drum spawn from spring to late summer. Females broadcast eggs into water where they float on the surface and hatch in about one day and are left to survive on their own. Adults feed on mollusks, crayfish, fish, and aquatic insects.

ADULT SIZE: Freshwater drum can reach 40 pounds. FISHING METHODS: Freshwater drum are frequently taken by anglers fishing for other species with both artificial and natural bait.

Yea, they said the shore fishing sucked, thats why they got a boat. They are still lookig for the really good places to fish. If you want to pass some along, I'll let them know. They call them sheepshead because they have teeth like a sheep or a goat. They eat the crustations off of the pylons and such. A 4 to 5 pounder will give you a couple huge fillets. Best Ive had yet. Kills the Mahi but thats my close 2nd favorite.yeah were definitely talking about 2 different fish...

Wishing you goodluck. Nothing like watching kids catch fish, except an adult who don't know how. LOL. The weather is starting to cool down and we will be going again to the river. We aim for the Striper in cool weather.
