Yes, I noticed that Diamond foods has increased their prices by$4. It may be due to a shortage of fuel.

Actually here in ohio diamond hi-energy went down $4 .From 17.99 to 13.88 for a 50 lb bag.Its funny every time i go stock up i buy all of it. I go through 5-7 bags a week right now for the winter .So these prices are very pleasing to my pocket.

I'm having a hard time now b/c work is screwing me and my last check was $53 for the 2 week pay period. Only worked 1 day...and not even a full day. I was getting Purina Hi Pro that was like $16 and now it's $19 and some change. Might go around and see if Diamond prices dropped.

WWII: No increase in price. I have tried to PM you for a while, but it said your box was full. I got ahold of that guy you told me about a long time ago that makes the cards/rails. He got me one done in less than 48 hours. He seems like a real cool guy. Thanks for his info.

Well when its the only High Performance you can find in the area. You kinda have no choice.Every one of my females are very very active .So its hard to keep weight on them .Diamond is the only thing that does the trick for me.

I'm not sure how many dogs ur feeding and what part of ohio ur in but i did a quick search on the Canidae website and there a bunch of places that carry it in ohio. It's just my opinion but i would everything in my power to switch from diamond to something more reliable

Yes and canidae is also anywhere between 32-38 bucks a bag. Put it like this i go through 50 lbs every 2 days if im lucky. So thats pushing the limit just a little. If i only had a few dogs id try canidae or some super premium food. But for now Diamond Hi energy and Extreme athlete(For a few over active bitches) are working just find.If it ever recalls again ill switch to a raw diet.

I feel you on that note, i couldn't afford to feed multiple dogs with canidae, however Diamond was recalled again just this past week. I've talked to some dogmen who feed over 25 dogs and they are all switching to exceed, its fairly cheap and a good quality feed, i don't know just throwing out another option, do what u do

Mott's: Where have you been?? Diamond was IS on the latest recall (Jan - 08)! And it was on the one before that & the one before that as well.

You can say all you want about having high energy dogs, ect. but you won't feel so sweet about feeding that Diamond when you have to watch your dog go through a painful death b/c that sh!t food poisoned them. Get your head out of your butt man & find another feed unless you want to bury some dogs!

As a side note, I switched to Black Gold black bag after Diamond Hi Energy killed 2 of my dogs. I have been very pleased w/ the Black Gold thus far & to my knowledge Black Gold has never been on any recall lists or killed any dogs!

I too have just switched to Black Gold for 2-3 weeks now from Natural Choice Nutro. For the cost of a 50lbs Black Gold bag, I can't be more pleased :)! And ABK is right never have I seen Black Gold on any recall list. A lot of people may dis-like that fact that it has Corn Meal and Corn Gluten Meal but I've seen good results with Black Gold compared to Nutro.

And yes the price has increased a bit. I've seen canned food for $1.25 jump to $1.75

I use Red Flannel Prime. Use to be known as PMI Prime. The feed store where I purchase it, you buy 6 and get 1 free so I usually pick up about 7 bags at a time for $134 and some change. It's now $22 and some change a bag here where I stay, use to be $18 even a bag when I first started feeding it about 3 years ago. I have had very good results with this in my adult dogs and pups. Here is a link to the product information: http://www.pminutrition.com/rf_prime.html

I just switched back to Natures Variety for my young dogs and Precise for my retired dogs. I was on Diamond Naturals Lamb/rice and Chicken/Rice for the last 3 months and my dogs looked great, but after this recall again I just cant chance it. Yeah I was saving alot, basically half the cost but my dogs are too valuable to me to loose one. I am finding a way to cut corners financially in other areas to keep them on better food.

Sadly, the poison from mold toxin is hits hard & often lethal. Death can occur in hours. In my case one of my dogs died w/in 24 hours & the other hung on for 3 days at the vet, but those 3 days were horrible. It was a mercy killing to put her down. I would never put another animal through that. So if it was made by Diamond I wouldn't risk feeding it. From what I understand, several different foods can be made at the same plant & even if the TOTW food is OK, there could be a chance of cross-contamination if a different food is made at the same plant it comes from.

There's so many recalls, its hard to determine what is safe these days :(

How true! There are so many on the recall list it makes it darn near impossible to choose. But if I had to suggest one, how about Merrick? As far as I know, they're not on the recall list & would be about the same type of food you mentioned.

Hey Guys!

I am currently feeding Diamond Naturals, 60+ pound food (even though my dogs are only 58 + 60 pounds, it got good ratings from the ingredients). Which Diamond foods were on the list? I did a search at google and could not find anything on the list about recalled food. I think I have like 5 more bags of it!

Help!

Help!SH*T me too. I just went and bought two 40lb bags today. I just wasted $50 something bucks. Can't they be sued and why aren't they being sued or publicized. Let me guess Peta is behind it? Anyone notice it's mostly always the foods that "pitbull" owners feed. Coincidence or conspiracy?

If I can manage my time better to feed raw I'll be doing that. It's a pain in the a** to feed especially for those with more than 2 dogs but it's the safest.

Help!As far as I know, Diamond Naturals is good to go. I think the problems come with their original formulas that have corn & wheat in them.

I don't know how many dogs you have but Canidae has a great breeders program. Buy 5 get one free. Brings the price down to .75/lb for me at $34.99/40lbs.

I fed it for 6 weeks. 5 of mine did well on it but 2 had problems. Watch out for coat issues. One got a bacterial skin infection(hadn't had one on TW for 8mo) and the other's fur started falling out, licking feet, and chewing her tail. All dogs are different though.

OK so what do you suggest feeding?

There's so many recalls, its hard to determine what is safe these days :(

Well, we know that a dog has to be on a feed for about 6-10 weeks to really tell how they will do. They can have all kinds of digestive trouble till their bodies conform, having said this:

I have tried many feeds, for at least 6 month intervals, to see how my dogs do. What I have found to work for me, is I mix exceed chicken and rice (which is 30/20 mix) with Beef and More. I feed two cups a day, and they do not poop a whole lot, and are fat as they need to be in winter. In summer, I cut it back to 1-1 1/2 a day, and they look very well. I used black gold for a while, and my dogs were crapping 2-3 times what they are now. The feed I am using I have to get @ sam's wholesale, exceed yellow bag is 22, and b&m is 15 something, I have a 55 gallon pickle barrel that I mix the feed in, and have been on this for a while now. I went from black gold to diamond hi energy, and the dogs were doing well on that, then two of them almost died on me when the recalls came up a while back, so I switched the feed, and went to what I am using now. I have met the folks who make the beef and more, years ago, and was impressed with that conversation.
Now, I know that on the list of healthy ingredients it may not rank high, but my dogs do phenominal on what I am using. I know some other folks that feed several dog, and have been using the exceed c&r only, and they told me they feed only 1 cup a day on it alone and that their dogs get fat on it. I mix the two simply so they get protein from chicken and beef, and I feed a bit more to satisfy them a little more. Also, I was concerned about how such a high protein feed would effect their inner organs if they stayed on it for a while, so I brought it down a little with the b&m.

As we all know, different dogs do good on different feed. I would highly suggest what I am using, and suggest you try it before you knock it. Alligator was getting 2 cups a day, and he gained more weight than he needed for the winter, so I had to cut it back to 1 1/2, and he's back to where he needs to be. He's 43# chain weight, so you can add that to your figuring.

the store i buy it at, is buy 9 bags of any food, get the 10th free.

doesn't have to be all at one time, they just punch a card they give you.

thanks for the tip, though.

(on a side note, we even feed felidae to my wife's two cats, who have since had no hairball/hacking problems, runny sh*t, or anything else negative, and they have long hair and now haveEXTREMELY soft and smooth fur)

Recall on can food is the only thing I found......I tell you about the safest way to feed now is raw but with e coli and mad cow and everything else I think its a catch 22 however you look at it.....
