COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Richland County deputies say they think they busted a dog fighting operation in its beginning stages.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced Wednesday that three men had been arrested and faced charges ranging from dog fighting to ill treatment of an animal to drug possession.
Deputies seized eight dogs, videos on how to train dogs to fight and baiting equipment from two Richland County homes.
Sheriff's spokesman Chris Cowan says deputies think the three men were starting a dog fighting operation. Cowan says deputies are not sure whether the men had actually hosted any dog fights.
Lott says the investigation began when four dead dogs were found last month at the end of a road in a rural area of the county.

Oh yea!! busting dog fighters, then busting folks transporting the dogs with "transporting fighting dogs", to "Well, we THINK they were planning on fighting."
Founding fathers would have stopped this or died along time ago.

This bust in Richland County, S.C. is being used along with several others as major "case and point's" against tethering in South Carolina by those (PETA, HSUS, ect) who support S833. Here's a link with video of Sheriff Leon Lott's press release. The link also has several other vidoe's showing the dogs and the conditions they were found in and them now at the animal shelter. http://www.wltx.com/video/newsVideoPlayer.aspx?aid=41390 (http://www.wltx.com/video/newsVideoPlayer.aspx?aid=41390)
For more information on S833 please visit the ADBA web site and check under "Legislative Alerts" on their home page for "ANIMAL LAW ALERT: SOUTH CAROLINA 2/7/08" or click here http://www.adbadog.com/p_pdetails.asp?fpid=306&pg=306 (http://www.adbadog.com/p_pdetails.asp?fpid=306&pg=306)
Regardless of whether you Tether or Kennel your dog, PLEASE take a few minutes of your time to e-mail every South Carolina Senator listed below and voice your opposition to S833. As soon as anti-tethering legislation is passed, anti-kennel and anti-crate legislation will be next. Then Animal Right Activist will pitch a fit about leaving your dog alone in your yard, then house. Any Argument made against tethering can be made against any other form of containmen t and will be eventually. Tethering is not the real issue being presented here. Tethering is one of if not the safest means of confining a dog. A dog on a 15 ft. tether has 706.5 square feet to move around in. The U.S. Government uses this exact form of containment for their sled dog teams in Denali. Tethering is a perfectly acceptable, humane way of containment Remember Animal Right Activist won‘t stop until they‘ve achieved their goal of total animal liberation from human use or control.

"videos on how to train dogs to fight and baiting equipment"
So, it's a video of two dogs humping, and a breeding stand? What in the world does that mean?
