This is a article from the now defunked ACTION JOURNAL written by a unknown author..

"Big Boy was originally obtained straight from the yard of CM..He was sired by Mimms' Ch.Jiggs (pure Redboy) bred to Mimms' Miss Daisey (a Snooty/Bolio/Tombstone bitch)..We purchased BigBoy at 2yrs old from a kid that was having problems keeping the dogs he had..
He was schooled and looked good so we ultimatley decided to bring him into the box..His 1st was into Dread's Jocko at cw,which was ref'd by Mr.Bill..This was a easy one in :22 as Jockos muzzle was getting out and leaking really bad..He was picked up and made no attemp to courtesy scratch..
Big Boy came out clean,so we hooked him up for his 2nd into TNT's Hurricane, who was a good son of MassCo.'s Ch.Pistol..This was also ref'd by Mr.Bill at cw..BigBoy had it all wrapped up in :28..
We knew it would be hard to find a good 57-58 lb dog but we heard that BA was taking his Ch.Haunch out again..Ch.Haunch was off GrCh.Mayday Rom x Hollingsworth's Lady making him a brother to Pro Set's Ch.MayMay..
Haunch won 3 in less than 1hr and then stopped the highly rgarded Knockout's Ch.Bubba in 1:50 with STP in the middle..We hooked it and 2 months later it was showtime..Haunch came out hard in the shoulders just like we thought he would but BigBoy is a face crusher and he pulled him out time and time again while inflicting serious damage..After about :20 Haunch has little biting power left..This is how we thought it would end,so we got a little excited a little to early..Haunch's heart was still in it and he refused to go away..There was no turns or out of holds until 1:20..At this point Haunch was not doing much, but was still trying for holds..I could see that BigBoy was losing interest..After 3 scratches each BigBoy came over but did not take a firm hold, and was counted out..BA's a seasoned dogman and he also saw that BigBoy was losing interest and had held Haunch firmly on both sides of the head so he would not try to bite BigBoy as this would have made him take hold....Right after this Haunch made a very game courtesy scratch, but when he tried to set the ivory BigBoy clammped down on his muzzle again..BigBoy never turned once or took his eyes off Haunch and responded to his courtesy with a deep face hold..Haunch became a GrCh in 1:50..BigBoy lost on the rules, but lose he did and all present agreed..GrCh Haunch proved DG as he expired the day after..
Some time later alot of people were calling him a cur and we had a hard time hooking him into solid competition..We finally got him hooked into a real rough 57lber called 2 Guys' Jaws..He had finished a Ch and was a son of Pizzaman's Bones in the Closet..Well he proved real good, and gave him more problems than GrCh.Haunch did but he did not have the Heart that Haunch did and stood the line in :48 his first time up earning BigBoy his championship..
GrCh Haunch was the only dog to ever scratch back into Ch.BigBoy in all his schooling rolls and matches as he is truley a face ace..he has great mouth, great natural air, great ability, and has smarts..His only downfall is that he fights to the level of his competition, and seems to lose interest if he doesnt feel threatened(ie: when his opponent is down and out)..I guess you could say he was not a finisher and I would agree..This is his only fault or he would be a ace..Also let it be known that 9 out of 10 woulndt scratch back into him and he is still otw at 58lbs..I say to people callinh him a cur to come get some and bring your money..."

That is a problem with a dog that dont finish. Lots of good dogs out there that will go only as hard as the competition and when they dont feel threatened they just chill out and basically quit until they get scratched into again then its on again....I have seen lots of dogs like this that will kill a game dog any day as long as they dont have to scratch much and their competition is going to scratch everytime then you will win with a dog like this but when its your scratch you better hope your dogs heated up and wants to go over or youll have a count out and all the sudden a dog everyone will call a cur. Just hope the dog your going into is very game and not gonna get outta their face or this happens everytime with a dog like that. The other dog has to keep their attention.

Would you really call him a CH? To me I wouldnt unless I saw what happened with my own eyes, if I thought he was cur no if I thought he was game yes...but that aint right if he lost though weird???

If you have a dog that is an ace as long as he's getting a run for his $ but will lose interest, would you consider that a cull? That is a problem with a dog that dont finish. If you have a dog that is an ace as long as he's getting a run for his $ but will lose interest, would you consider that a cull?To me I wouldnt cull the dog if he was a proven game dog. I seen many dogs I would call game lose interest when not threatened and I dont think gameness or definition of these complex animals can be summed up by such a simple action. The biggest baddest muthas I know will stop beating your ass too when your done fighting back... so does that make them a pus for quitting...no. But in dogs we want to give MACHINE like definitions to actions made by a complicated thinking animal which cant be done...if that happened to me with a dog i was serious about I might look him over again in certain ways and see whats up before I culled him especially if he performed in the same ways...

Would you really call him a CH?He won 3 contract matches, why wouldn't he earn the title of "Champion"? No where does it designate a deadgame-only animal, the title is in reference to matches won, not heart. Many champions are curs!

Grandchampions cannot lose, champions can, so long as they win 3.

An "ace" in good shape, shouldn't be given a run for their money, if they deserve the title! Excluding, health problems, poor conditioning, rubs, etc. etc

An ace is a level above their peers, who would cull an ace?

Many curs will fight to defend themselves, this doesn't make them game. If you don't go across, and mouth, who cares?

HI, i think that fourcouner and misterdogman has a point because we have to fallow the redom of the event and visualize dog reaction in the marrer of losing his gamenes or if other thinks inbolve.

What can't we judge? The definition of "champion" is crystal clear, win 3 contract matches.

Did he win 3?
