Many of you know the story about Rebel. Well, since he has been back, he has broken out of the kennel, and broke his chain set-up like the one in this pic.

He pulls so hard that the swivel comes apart. He had also done this before we rehomed him. What else can I use that he can't break? He got loose tonight and came to the front door wanting in. It was raining and we had to figure something out for the night, so he got crated. Any suggestions?

Enter him in a weight pull competition :)

Seriously though, I wish I had an answer for you. Do you have a picture of the broken swivel? Maybe if folks on here could see how it broke you could get a better answer on how to fix the problem.

Trying to post pics now, but the middle of the morning and my PC is wanting to do it's scaning and crap.

You see that swivel. He's breaking it into in the middle. It's outside in the rain and it's 4:30 in the morning so I can't show it to you. Do they make them any stronger or bigger? This one was about 4 or 5 bucks I think.

Yes they do make different sizes/strengths. To be on the safe side i would suggest using a load limit of 3600lbs or close to it.

I would try the 3/8 chain swivels from O'Briens K9 Supply.

I agree the swivel/ hardware does not fit the animal.

I agree with trying a bigger swivel. What is he chained to? He must be able to get a pretty good snatch on the end of the chain! I had one that was hell on hardware. I swear he could break anything. I got a couple of garage door springs and put them on the chain up near the cable and he couldn't hit the end of the chain as hard. It helped. Good luck!

He has a total of 16 feet and he's strong as a horse. Looks like a Clydesdale. LOL.:D He can take off and yank that chain hard. When he was here before I got him back, I checked his hardware about every two weeks. I will go to Lowe's or Tractor Suply tommorow and buy a few larger ones.

Edit: We tried the spring thing with China when she was outside in the day. It does give a little. I might try it with him. Thanks for reminded me about it.

Get in the habbit of checking that hardware and chain every day.
