I went to the ADBA's website and was shocked to find out they have started registering breeds other than APBT's. I have been a little out of touch what with Katrina and all. I completly missed this somehow. I feel violated. More proof that the allmighty dollar will corrupt people with even the best of intentions.

Yeah, Katrina was more than two years ago. I won't give you a break until my insurance pays what it should, a grant comes though or something else happens to get me and a lot of other people back into their homes instead of a damn FEMA trailer. I have a lot more to worry about than if the ADBA has gone off course from the traditions and values that made it what it is. As for BSL I fight it myself. I am the reason it wasn't adopted right here where I live. Because I fought it in city hall and printed a writeup in the newspaper myself. I also contribute and belong to a few organizations. I have been registering my dogs with ADBA for 24 years. My family and a lot of friends have registered dogs at the ADBA for longer than that. But no, I have not done as much nor given as much they have. Have you? No need to be a jackass. Just answer the questions.

it's also very funny now how they aren't corrupt but "gone off course from the traditions and values that made it what it is"
just cuz i didn't appreciate you talking shit on them for no good reason, it's funny how you get all in a tiff now that the shoe was on the other foot. like i said think, and choose your words a little more carefully next time if you don't want the negative comments.

6. Argue with posts, not the poster. Debating topics are good, but arguing, flaming, or bashing between members or of any off-site person, site, or kennel is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. Personal attacks will not be tolerated. Firm and direct constructive criticism is encouraged and often necessary, outright insults are not.

They may register other breeds, but to date, most ADBA clubs are still APBT-specific. This may change in the future, but like simms said don't sweat the small stuff. If you aren't happy with the ADBA, try the AADR or BFKC. Or hell you can even start your own registry lol.

Heres my experience with the ADBA and BSL when BSL was introduced to my county. A knee jerk reaction about 2 APBTs roaming off leash going to someones backyard and killing 2 dogs. The 2 dogs that were killed where in a pen and the APBT's dug there way through to get to them. The first thing I did was call the ADBA to inform them. The person that answered put me on hold to speak to Patty. I told Patty what my county was going to do, there was going to be a town meeting to vote on vicious dog laws and if the ADBA could help. She said I was the first to inform them on this BSL in my county and heres what the ADBA would do.
1) send notifications out via email and letters to APBT owners reg with the ADBA in that county to "put the word out"
2) Give you "talking points" so when you talk to politicians and/or media you sound educated
3) Email you a copy of dog regualtions that was passed in MO that the ADBA feels should be adopted by counties that want to institute some type of BSL. Instead of breed ban or BSL, the legislation puts responsibilty in the hands of the owner (where it should be) with fines and harsher punishments for owners.
No one can control what the ADBA does with its money. But I truly felt that the ADBA could do alot more.
The battle against BSL is you against the politicians. I ended up being the only one there fighting for the dogs. No matter what I said it seemed like the politicians had there minds made up already.

Your right, I'll choose my words more carefully in the future. Let's leave Katrina out of it, I don't mean currupt as in stealing and all. I mean what happened to make them break with tradition and register other breeds. If it wasn't for money then why. I have been unaware it happened, so when did it? Thats a little closer to what I meant to say. Sorry I wasn't clear. i'm not the one who said i felt violated and that the almighty dollar had corrupted them so don't try to turn it around on me. it's also not my fault your insurance company hasn't paid your claim. talk to them about it. it seems to me that you calling them corrupt was being a jackass first and i stated my opinion you can take it or leave it. next time think before you write shit you don't want people to respond to is my best advice. keep hopin for that govt. check. i'm sure it will come soon.

From what I remember other breeds were included due to $. Extra dogs registered = more$ to fight BSL not extra $ to put in their pockets.

No prob. We're cool! I haven't had a computer for a long time so hadn't been to their website. After such a long time being a APBT only registry it took me by surprise to see "Other breeds" on the homepage. Don't get me wrong. The ADBA is still the best game in town. Guess they did what they had to. What a shame its had to come to that.
