I had my dog's ears done a while back and now one is perfect and the other is leaning towards the head. I was wondering if anybody could tell me how to tape the ear if you can post pics that would be great. I would take my dog to the vet to get them taped, but the vet's charge close to $30 for just seeing the dog and will probably give me some high ass price to just tape the ears.

Do not tape them yourself if you've never done it before! If you tape them too tight you may cut off circulation to the ear and cause serious damage. Call your vet and ask IF they charge for taping. My vet charges one set price for the surgery and ALL re-checks and meds are FREE. Even if your vet charges you for the tape I can't believe they would charge an office call too. Call first, it won't hurt to ask.

Whoever did the cropping should have shown you the procedure for taping. I only ever had of of my dogs ears cropped, and that was the first one. I had similar problem could not get both to stand straight up. Eventually, they did, tho i did a lot of taping jobs.
How short did you get them? I have seen croppings that are on the short side... tend to lean and sometimes rest on the head. I wish you were close, its way easier to show you visaully. Hopefully, you can get a hold of someone who can you show you the proper way to do it.
I ll see if i can find some old pics for ya, i might have already erased from digital camera. Good luck.
Whoever did them, should have definately shown you how. Shame on them.

That is rediculous! They really should be doing it for free. Word of mouth is pretty important when it comes to these procedures. I am suprised that they would be more concerned about collecting the $9 than who is going to ask where the hell did you get that poor crop job if you do without the re-tape. What did they charge for the initial crop?

My advice... maybe you should just fork over the 9 bucks! Trying to save a few bucks on a tape job, or worse trying to do it yourself seems a little ridiculous to me. I mean hell, we are talking about your dogs ears here. Don't be one of those idiots that maims a dog for life because he wants to do something that he has no business doing or for that matter any idea how to do... leave it to the pros.

I have mine done for 90 from an old timer out here and he will include as many visits for retape as need be for free. Just let them know inbetween the taping and you forking out that extra $9 that you will be looking for a new vet that is more interested in your business.

Okay like i said i am not againstpaying because of the price but more against the fact that they are making me pay for an ear that they should have been taking care of. After we got the tape put on they pretty much said ur on your own... then told me to come back 2 pay for getting the tape off. then i said well... its not straight and they assured me that it would stand. 2 mo later I have a dog wit uneven ears... i love my dog regardless but feel that if I paid $300 they should do everything that they can to help the ear stand. Not to mention they put a PARVO vaccine in my dog right before surgery... huh? well that's smart introduce a virus into my pup's system while she is the weakest. O and does anybody know what is the latest date to get the ears cropped? Just asking
