Just another feeding question, so don't get all excited....

I've been feeding my dogs Canidae for a little while now, and they seem to be doing pretty good. But one dog seems like he's getting a little too much sodium in his diet. This was suggested by a friend, so I'm not sure how credible it is, but sometimes he will pee while inside (seperation anxiety, still working on it), but as it dries (on tile) it kind of has a glassy, crystalized look to it. Like it's freezing kind of. It also doesn't look as watery as I think it should. Any ideas how to fix this? He gets a lot of water, I try to keep the water bowl filled, but he doesn't drink it a lot. The only time I don't let him at it freely is right after a good work out, since he tries to drink a lot real fast and pukes. He is about 48-50 lbs and eats 2 cups of canidae twice a day.

I going to try to water his kibble down when I feed him, which I think might help, but if it's something else, I'd rather change that ASAP.

Any ideas?

Any ideas? I am not sure abou the pea thing right off....but that seems like too much food...2 cups once a day is plenty for an adult on that feed...

Not sure about the symptoms and all that. But I just wanted to say if you like the Canidae, you might try the lamb and rice formula. I was looking at sodium content a while ago because one of the dogs here has a murmur, and the L&R was lower sodium than the all-stages.

I'm cautious about switching formulas with Canidae, but if it is the food that's bad for him, then I'll switch to Canidae.

I tried the Chicken and Rice formula once and he had a horrible allergic reaction to it.

As far as the amount, you can check out the most recent pics I have of him in the gallery, he's definitely not over fed. High metabolism and pretty good activity level. I actually add in a couple things when I do some conditioning with him.

You may want to go have the Creatine and BUM levels checked by your vet. Its a simple urine sample, but focussed mainly on a lack of proper Kindey function. May be worth a trip to the vet. JMA
