OK, so I'm doing some research on my dog's peds, so I get back to the 10th generation, and mixed in with some OFRN stuff is a dog named "Hume's Texas Jack" So I look online to learn more about it, and it turns out he was an AKC champ in the late 60's. Does that mean he was an amstaff?

don't know anything about him...just looked him up online

If he was a staff, I just don't get it.....there's nothing else but game bred dog's in my dog's ped that he shows up in. It would seem silly that someone back then would have bred a game dog to a show dog and then used the stock they produced for competition....I mean why breed to a show dog if there are game dogs available and thats what you want to use them for?

seems to me the answer is obvious. if it is a.k.c. registered, than it's am-staff. don't soil your pants just yet though. if it was almost fifty years ago i would say that there is a good probability that it has degressed into game blood. depends on the breeder(s) and which dogs are in the ped. i mean seriously, just cause you got a sliver of am-staff from fifty years ago is no reason to get your panties in a bunch. which came first, the chicken or the egg? there are worse things in the world.

oh, and if you are that concerned about it, cut off his balls. plain and simple. i don't mean to sound rude, but this is a "problem" you should be able to deal with on your own. or farm him out to someone who doesn't give two s***s either way.

HA HA! LMFAO! just looked at the ped. what do you mean does he have am-staff?:) yea, I don't know what AKC dog's were doing in the 60's. He's (Hume's Texas Jack) the only amstaff that shows up in the ped though...and like you said it was fifty years ago. As for the dog I have, it's turning out fine...so far seems to be a quality bulldog. Just curious about the presence of this amstaff in the peds...was that something that happened from time to time back then....kind of made me think.

Thanks guys.

I haven't had a chance to look at the pedigree, but this is what I was thinking when I read this.

When the AKC started to allow the "APBT" of today, they allowed those who were fighting and doing other stuff with there dogs. Many dogs were duel registered with them even after they went to calling them AMSTAFFS. Although most decided against it after that change in name, there were still many APBT registered. When the closed the stud book in the 70s (I believe), there were no more registered. Now, the AMSTAFFS are nothing like what the APBT is, because of breedings for specifics (color, size, conformation, pedigree), the APBT of old has turned into the AMSTAFF of today.

i was doing some reasearch a while back, and there was some colby dogs back in the day that were dual registered with adba, and akc, and i remember there was some other reputable dogs/breeders that were dual registered back in the day.

That dog you posted is an X-Pert line AmStaf, that was actually good stuff and was still being used at that time for more than just the show ring.

Its way to far back for your dog to even obtain the traits of the amstaff blood. Your dog will obtain the traits of the dogs in the first 4 generations.
