First of all, I'd like to make it very clear, before I even continue, that this is not to complain but to make a suggestion. I think game-dog's reputation system needs to change and soon.
Why? Because:
-People are using public threads to address negative comments they were given instead of using PMs
-Some users are giving out negative points and comments way too frequently and/or without considering people's feelings
-It is creating a lot of tension between members, more than threads alone can ever do!
My thoughts are that the option to give negative points should be removed.
Positive points (or lack thereof) are enough to establish a good or bad reputation.
I also think comments should have a username listed next to them for all members, not just paying ones.
This would reduce the number of immature people giving out bad comments because they are too cowardly to not do this announymously(sp).
Otherwise, it should be removed entirely.

I personally like the reputation system, I agree it would be nice if who ever is leaving a comment would also leave thier name. If your gonna leave feedback then one should have the gumption to leave his / her name and not hide behind being anonomous.
To do away with the system altogether tho ? Id say NO! Some people are just plain idiotic and need to be called out for the whole GD community to see. For me it helps me skip reading a post that I otherwise would've read and feel much less stupider for reading.

I agree ppl should leave thier nic when giving good or bad reps.
Crazy, if this wasnt to complain.....why didnt you just shoot Marty an Email?
Crazy, you didnt consider anyone's feeling's when you tried to call out some members of this board a couple week's ago. Sure it can make a person mad or whatever it does to you. In the scheme of thing's it is not realy that big of a deal. Just be mindfull of what you post.....

if you don't want to support the site then how can you complain you don't get the same benefits as the paying members? get a job, cough up the cash and you will get this.

Otherwise, it should be removed entirely.I see why you would have your particular frustrations -and I understand where you are coming from- but I think Marty works hard enough on this site and throws in enough out of his pockets without members trying to get perks reserved for premium members. The reputation system is a small part of game-dog, regardless of whoever decides to be flame-happy at the moment.
Frankly, before I was a paying member I took heart in knowing anyone who didn't sign their name on an offcolor rep was a wuss. Plain and simple. Now I enjoy knowing I paid a small dues to a site I respect and support, and as a result I got some perks.
BTW- the rep thing to me is not the only premium feature worth ponying up for.
Now an amendment to your suggestion might be this: perhaps warranted complaints (not every member who gets a lil' ol' red dot) could be followed up on by administrators/mods regarding obscene or excessive negative reps. If its noted that any particular member seems to be abusing the system then a warning could be issued and subsequent actions as necessary if the warning is not heeded?

You know I love you Michele and I get shit because I don't have an APBT either, but was this thread really neccesary?
I've gotten more than my fair share of negative rep points (for no good reason or was but expressed in a very idiotic way) but I'm not going to complain about it to everyone.

I cant really say much because Im not a premium member YET but I will be very soon. Anyhow, I like the rep point system. Ive been given negative rep for nothing before but its really not that big of a deal. This is nothing that you carry into your everyday life is it? That negative rep doesnt reflect anything on you other than on here right? And even then, its still not that big of a deal. Just MHO. YIS, D.

I do believe that some people use the negative reps way too often...I personally have only given one, and that was for BluePaul or whatever that guy's name was, because he definitely needed it...However, I do think it works for the most part. Yes, people use it as a weapon, but sometimes good points are made as well in it...I have no problem putting my name down. I usually just forget to, but I figure their pos. reps anyway, so it doesn't matter.

Why would anyone worry about people giving them a bad rep here??? If you speak your mind, believe in what you are saying, and are not being malicious then who cares what people think? You can't please everyone and I'm not going out of my way to please people I don't even know just because their opinions may differ from mine! I certainly have more important things in life to worry about than bad rep points here! LOL
Besides, if you write something the moderators don't like they'll just ban you like they frequently do. Let's see if I get a line through my name for this post.

Jr member, senior member, what's the difference??? I don't need tenure or "Golden Knowledge" to have or post an opinion! Are you for real???? Sounds like you take yourself and this site WAY to seriously! For the other person who says as long as you abide by the rules you'll be ok..... Anyone can take offense to, or disagree with what someone writes whatever it may be and then get banned even if "following the rules" if the moderators don't like what's written. You've got people writing that others "should have their asses kicked" because of a picture taken at a gathering where two dogs sniffed each other???
Where was the public out cry against sch a harsh statement from someone who by the way was not even there and had no understanding of the situation?
I've read posts where members bash each other for not owning APBTs or APBTs that are not game bred. Get over yourselves!
This is a site to talk dogs, not solve the ills of the world and I don't need tenure, Golden Knowledge, or a crystal ball to see there's more bickering here than on "The View"

lol, lol....you know what...lmao! You people keep defending the mods...lmao! I am sure they do not need defending...too funny for words.
Anyway, regarding the topic, I think the rep system is a good one. A person cannot maliciously target one person for rep points. Rep points can be used to self analyze one's subconciously written post. It may help you gain another perspective to your thought, belief, or opinion. IMHO, you should type what you feel, think, and want to say. Personally, internet world is where I can be myself. There is no need for the public masks and social behaviors. While on the net, one can fully express themselves without concern of long-term repercusions. So, this rep system is but a check point of your balance (check and balances).

What a pointless waste of space.....Why much everyone cry when they get bad rep? Or even good rep, but no one leaves their name? Pay $25.00 to help support the site and you wont have to worry about it any longer...
And on a side note...
If you are a reg. member and you have bad rep that you just received today...well if you become a premium member you will still be able to see it...
I doubt anyone on this board is giving bad rep to only those who cannot see...like someone else cant see it for you or you cant pay tonight and see it yourself...grow folks..I thought we were all adults here!

Actually Mr Braithwaite, or shall I say minicopilot, you will not be banned for a simple statement, but rather because your previous screenname was banned for unbecoming conduct that violated the forum's rules even after you were warned.
And I find it amazing that people who supposedly hate this site and end up getting banned, pop back up almost instantaneously under a new screenname. Let this be a warning: we WILL find out and we WILL ban you again and again and again and again and again..........as many times as it takes.
