the other day i went to look at a dog a guy was trying to sell, a really beutiful rednose male, so i talk to him a little bit about the dog, ask him what does the dog do, will he catch a hog, has he been game tested, you know that sort of stuff when you go to buy a dog, well he tells me this dog has won several ribbons at the catchpens, which this dog is only about a year old, and the catchpens have been banned for about a year now, so i don't think this dog was catching hogs when it was first born, or before it was born, so that was my first hint to straight up bullcrap, then he goes on talking about how this dog is a nose only dog, it only catches by the nose. and this dog has found and caught several hogs by itself, and he's only a couple miles from where i know a hog resides, so i was like, i want to just see what he will do, so i put him in there with the hogs, and i could tell he never seen a hog before. and he says, oh man he just hasn't been in a while, it take a minute, well one of the hogs hits him, and he catches it by the balls!!! nose dog yeah right!!! then he goes talking about how this scar is from a d^&this scar is from a hog, and i can look and tell some are just ant bites, and from scrapes from maybe briars and stuff like that, needless to say i ran from this one, lol, i may have considered buying him if he caught a hog as hard as the guy claimed on the nose, for the cheap price he wanted, with adba registration papers. oh yeah it was that gator mouf bloodline.

and yesterday a guy was selling pitbull puppies in the walmart parking lot. me being curious, and to see what kindof bs they are using to peddle em. i stop by, he has a nice male there. (the sire) solid white, but kinda large to be a fullblooded pitbull, i could see some bully in him, probably some gotti. well i asked him what bloodline are they, the male is gatorhead and boudreux. lol yeah right!! what the hell is a gatorhead, and i aint ever seen a boudreux dog that looked like that!! and the female is rednose bloodline. lol. oh and his male is albino, because he is solid white, with a rednose, and he says the dogs eyes are blue, and turn pink in the sunlight, well they looked brown to me, and get this the puppies are albino because they are solid white, with blue eyes, i haven't seen a 6 week old pup yet that didn't have blue eyes, anybody else run into anything like this lately??

Sure...I'll bite. I've experienced two ridiculous encounters here that should be shared.

The first story happened at a wal-mart, and admittedly it almost started a fight. There was a couple in the corner of the parking lot selling "pitts." That's the number one sign that they were dumb asses. I was with a buddy, and chose to go over to see what they were up to. As we walk over we see a female dog (may or may not have been the dam) and 8 4 week old pups. Not only were they too young to leave the litter, but they were already being given hard kibble. Sign number two. I decided to ask how they were bred, and the lady said, "American." My face wrinkled, and my buddy went to town about irresponsibility, her lack of knowledge, etc. As we were standing there another couple walked up inquiring about the puppies for sale. The byb started to show the female dog that was there, and the couple wasn't too interested in the bully body type. The byb still peddling chose to pick up a 4 week old pup, and say, "Ya'll are into game dogs. This one looks like it will be game." She also told them that her next litter will be a Colby/Eli cross. Once I heard that I had to step in, and wonder why if she had this "apparent" knowledge of gamebred dogs she was peddling pups at walmart? Why again she was selling pups so young that were probably malnourished because they were weened too soon, etc.? After hearing this arguing the inquisitive couple looked at me, and asked "should we get a pup from her or not?" I cut them some slack, and told them they have a lot to learn before getting an APBT, but in short...hell no! I just wish I could be there to stop this sh!t all of the time.

Story #2- This one only includes a phone call, but is equally ridiculous. I saw an ad in the local classified circular aptly called the "peddler" which claimed to be selling ABDA registered "Family Red APBTs". Now this one caught my eye because unlike the others that usually have CKC or NAPDR papers this one claimed ABDA. Odd. Secondly, I though maybe it was a misprint and this people were selling an OFRN bloodline. Could there be a diamond in this trash heap. Would this be a reputable breeder with hemphill or wilder dogs? I knew the answer to this questions, but my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to call them. I asked how the dogs were bred, and the answered red. An akward silence followed. They also told me how the sire had a big blocky head, etc. I asked about the ABDA registration numbers and names of the parents and they answered with a big "huh?" They told me that these dogs weren't registered, and the ad shouldn't say that. I told them that they were worthless in as many words, and should read some books. Also to google "Old Family Red Nose" so atleast the next time they lie in an ad they won't get that part wrong either.

I wouldn't have given them any tips on hustling. I play a game here, and call the byb and ask simple questions. "Why is this dog worth so much?", Usually, I end up with the " Well I'm selling these for someone", or the classic "They are blue". Head size, body size and color talk are a sure giveaway. I usually don't bother with them unless we know who it is and are really bored.

I called the regular every 6 month ad:
"Moo Moo / Brendal Mix no shots no papers $100 "

I actually went and saw the dogs. The female is bred like every heat, You can time every 6 months like clock work by his ads in the paper. So I go there, and there are these obviously mix a mutt pups running around the yard. He shows me mom and dad, Mom looked like some kind of AB mix, But of course she was a Purebred moomoo pit bull" because she is black and white. Dad was an ANCIENT brindle boxer mix lookin thing. "Purebred Brendal pit bull" I was just like omg. He them shows me a female he kept from last litter about 6 months old and she looked like a brindle lab mix. Gee and we wonder why most people can't even properly identify a "pit bull".

I get told by these street idiots all the time "that dog aint pure its gotta be mixed" I just roll my eyes anymore and keep on walkin. I get asked ALL the time if my Am Staff is a "blue nose" I usually just look at the dog look at the person roll my eyes and keep moving. Duh are they color blind?

I had a guy come in my work "lookin for da girl wit da pittz" ( that would be me ) Of course they sent him up front to my glass box, THANKS GUYS! lol, he tried to sell me some "American Rednose" bred pups. Only $400 gauranteed big heads, would be a great improvment to my breeding stock. and "he doesnt mean to be rude but ya know he saw my dogs before in there and they are kinda small so he thought he would help me out" You can probably imagine the look that was on my face.

yeah i've had quiet a few people come up, saying what kind of dog is that?? and i say pitbull, and they're like it must be mixed, that dog is too small, or it don't look like a "pit" and they be like i got some dogs, the other day i went to the audio store, and saw an ad on the wall, it had a pic of a blue pup, it said pitbull pup @ 3 weeks old, but it was huge, looked like the size if a 5 week old pup. i asked the guy there, u know, me just being curious to see what kind of bulllshit they were saying and to see what he was feeding his jip for the pups to be that big, $1500 and it was 75% razors edge, 20% gotti. i tried my best not to laugh at this guy and his "blue nose" pups.

The funniest one I can remember like that, is when this guy comes up to me with his hundred pound dog and ask me if my dog was a pure pit. My dog was a daughter of Gatorboys CH. Mickey (out of St. Benidict ) and Wildside's Poison Ivy (The gamest 1xLG I've every seen.). I looked at him and his dog, and with a straight face, said no.

we get a lot if ignorant people peddling pups here in the south florida area. it's really sad because they just sell to whoever has the money, and of course they are all hippos. a lot of crap, especially watchdog and RE and gotti. my neighbor has a huge a$$ RE and i told him once he should charge the neighborhood kids a dollar a ride and he emphatically agreed with me. i was at a loss for words.
