I signed up for something today ... pre-paid legal service. It's like insurance but for legal service. For $16 a mo., myself & my whole immediate family get ...

* unlimited free consultations w/ a lawyer who is on call 24/7 to include nights & weekends (good if the law comes knocking after hours)

* free court room defense services (1 free hour for the 1st year, 1.5 free hours the 2nd year, 2 free hours the 3rd year & so on.)

* free bail service

And these are only but a few things they offer. I thought it would be great for the APBT family since there are so many witch hunts going on against us & our breed today. If someone tried to harass you, all you need to say is "I'd like to talk to my attorney about this first" & with a few clicks of the cell phone you have an attorney at your service!

I asked them point blank if they had any anti-pit bull clauses & if they would cover pit bull owners & they said no, they have no pit bull clauses & yes, they would cover us.

HOWEVER ... they did say they do not defend w/ cases dealing w/ drugs or alcohol, so any of you who have any ideas of signing on w/ them to help you beat a weed rap or to get your drunk kid out of jail, forget it. :p

That sounds like a good idea!

I thought so too. What with all that happened to innocent folks in our breed lately I think it's good to have attorney services at hand 24/7.

BTW, the coverage is nationwide. So if you live in Nevada & they try to take your dogs while you're travelling through Ohio, they'll still fight for you.

I had it for years and when I needed it they were no help at all. They said I didn't get any hrs for free, all they offered was a reduced rate(which was similar to other lawyers). You also have to check into the provider firms. Different areas of law have different providers. The closest lawyer was over an hour away, the gas to get there was more than than the "discount".

It was worth it for the living will and the free phone calls but don't expect too much for $16.00 per month.

Too bad to hear that.

I spent a quite a bit of time w/ these folks & made sure what I was looking for was FREE. But even discounts help.

I also made sure they had physical offices in Tennessee, Mississippi & Ohio, the states which we'd be using their services most & they do have offices there.

And as a side note, I get the $16 p/h rate b/c I work for the schools. Normally it would cost $36, which is still good & if I don't like it I can canel at any time.

A lot of folks at school have it b/c of how kids & parents act today. You know the "you (laid hands on, spoke harsh to, or insert whatever grievence here) to my child, now I'm going to sue!" type thing.

One of my benefits at work is legal services. It only costs me like $2.00 a week. I'm glad I got it as I'm in a bit of a legal dispute at the moment involving my dogs. I won't get into detail, let's just say we were railroaded, but justice will prevail.

Your right, it is worthless, except for the fact that you can say "Speak to my attorney", and instruct your attorney to blow them off. If they have nothing, thats where it stays. Its best as a preventive intergotion. Its great for that.

Thanks for the info guys. I hate to hear it dodn't work out for some people, but I thought it sounded great & I am going to at least give it a try. They said I can cancel at any time & the price is right, so I don't figure it would hurt to give it a shot. If I don't like it, I can always drop it, but if they do what they advertise, it's worth keeping.

Yeah it never hurts to try something, thats the only way to see if you like it.and if you ain't roped into any contracts or anything like that i myself see no reason to not try it if it sounds good.let us know how it turns out for you, though i pray you never really need to use it.
