I have a bitch that is in heat and this morning I woke up to the other dogs raising hell. So, I went outside to find my bitch out of her kennell and two of the neighbors dogs in the yard. One won't leave and I am afraid he may have got to her.

Is there anything I can do to test and maybe prevent a pregnancy?

maybe an 'emergency spay?'

there's some members on here who will be able to help out a lot, hopefully they chime in soon.

Is this quaranteed to stop the pregnancy? What are the side effects? Do I have to know for sure the two dogs mated? I am not positive they mated.

Take the pups when they are born and give them to your neighbors who did not contain thier dogs on thier own property. Thats what I would and HAVE done. I guarantee it will never happen again.

I knew a MinPin breeder some years ago who related a 2nd-hand story to me. Her friend had done the mismate shot on an accidental breeding. The dog later gave birth to one oversized, deformed puppy. So the mismate shot isn't an absolute.

them mismate shots and the like are junk.even though it was not your fault 100% i am still curious as to how your dog got out of her kennel.if i had a bitch in heat she would be on a even tighter lockdown if not in my home till it passed if i was not intending to breed her.only thing i would recomend is first wait and see if she is pregnant.and if she is let her have the litter because even after they are spayed and the litter taking with that they always have a tough time.just let her have and raise the litter if she is infact pregnant and like i was saying even though this is not 100% your fault it will still teach you a lesson and maybe make you contain your animal that much better, because it is a 50/50 split in my opinion your dog wasn't properly contained and theirs was not either.

Well I believe I was told a while back you should have made sure your dog was contained. Aside from that, there is a shot, but it messes with the harmones and she will be in heat a lot longer. Otherwise, wait to see if she starts showing and have a spay - abort done.

Let this be a learning experience and make changes so this never happens again. If you knew you female was in heat maybe next time put her up.

Good luck in whatever you chose to do.

you do that, they will probably be selling em at the walmart parking lot as pure bred pitbulls, gatorhead and rednose bloodline.

if she got out the kennel, somebody could've let her out?? i had some dogs at a friend's house a while back, and i moved em to another friends when we started having problems with the neighbors letting em off the chain.

i would assume there is some sort of pregnancy test. if she is, don't breed her to anything else. and
