A year ago next month I was pulled over. My husband builds races cars so my car isn’t slow. I was pulled over right in font of a sign that said the speed limit was 45, I was doing 47. I was pulled out of the car, accused of racing another car, searched, and questioned about my involvement in the Latin Kings (a gang). None of you have seen me but I am a little white girl and Latin Kings are just that, Latin. Well I ended up with three tickets. I have a good lawyer because we frequently get tickets for things like exhaust and tint. I faxed the tickets to my lawyer and he called my back saying that the tickets were not in the system. So I wait a few months and checked again but they still weren’t in there. In June I was in at the court house and I decided to ask about my tickets, still nothing. Lastly, two weeks ago I was stopped by a cop. He ran my license and found nothing. Yesterday, I received a letter (from Texas when I live in Florida) that my license was suspended as of August 21, 2007. They want me to send $370 to a PO BOX in Orlando. I think it isn’t fair because I tried to pay the tickets many times but I couldn’t. Now I don’t know what to do.

Yea, i know. I don’t want to pay it based purely on principle. Why didn’t go in to the system for a year? Is it even legal to hold a ticket that long?

Now I don’t know what to do.gut feeling here and i am rarely wrong on my gut feeling is that someone police officer or other wise is trying to scam you out of 370 bucks.i would go down to court and present them with the facts and go from there.now a question i have for you is do you have a Texas drivers license? and if so why when you live in Flordia.but my gut feeling here is your getting scammed out of 370 bucks.because to me it does not sound like it is being handled the way it would normally be.

Statute of limitations is 7 years. Most minor traffic tickets will disappear in 3 years.
I would call my lawyer again, and ask him to check and see if this is legit. If so, your lawyer should be credible enough of a witness that you tried to do something about this, and should be able to make it better for you.

Up date:

I told my lawyer. He had me fax him the letter I had received. And I had proof that those tickets did not show up on my licenses last week. My lawyer said not to worry about it and he will take care of it.

I was born and raised in Florida. I have never been to Texas.

i would go to the dmv..check my licence out..next you should have a copy of the ticket..if not figure out how to get one...on the ticket their should be the pigs..ooops officers badge number...from there a lawyer and internal affairs can handle the rest..fallowed by a law suit or settlement for stress..go see a doctor take some meds..if its a scam ...involve the papers or atleast let the police department know you can but your not....more than likely you will be let off with a lot of warnings in the future..
