Fresh Chicken is the #1 Ingredient

Large Kibble Helps Clean Teeth and Reduce Plaque

M,W,F: They get one raw egg each on top of their food.

Tu,Th,Sa, Su: They get one capsule of fish oil on their food.

Since switching to that food and supplemented the fish oil/raw egg, there has been no itching, scratching and whole lot less licking. "Yard waste" has probably been cut in half or so.

They just started the RAW diet so they're getting chicken quarters, talapia fillets, beef livers and eggs.

What other kinds of fish could I feed that's low in mercury and easy on the pockets?

makeral, sardines, salmon. we feed mostly jack makeral its cheap.we really dont feed much liver, kidneys as those organs filter out all the toxics . so if you dont know if they (cows ect)were fed some toxic stuff or what have you.

Thats quite the assembly line you got there SRK.

I'm feeding my dog Eukanuba dry, science diet wet , salmon and fish oil pills.
Seems I might have to change things up once I start competing on the rails.

I really appreciate this info, b/c as we all know fillets are a bit expensive. I read to only feed one organ once per week so that's what I'm doing.

purina high pro,and if i have a dog that has a dry coat wich i haven't had with this food i will put some powdered milk in the feed and it works wonders.guess as with everything else i am old fashoned.to me what folks feed the dogs now a days is for people but if it works no harm in it.back when i was young i know our family dogs ate nothing but table scrapings and did just fine so i can see how this would be better for them.

Old Timer,

I know, just having some fun and I also give my dogs the 5 star meals every once in a while.

nothing beats the O'l Purina Hi Pro :) JC Shaw was using Purina Pro Plan in his last conditioning feeds and he's always done ok I'd say, ha ha

Scratchy. it Depends, but they only get fed 1 time a day. some days they will just get a chicken back others just a raw meaty bone. some day just beef hearts. we try to switch it up a few weeks. the key thing is when feeding the RAW diet is variety.but 1 day out of the week i will fast them.

and yup old timer if ya feed ya dog old roy(not the best but anywho) and they do good on it then whatever works for them.same with feeding Raw not all dogs will do good on it as with any food.

Colby,

Why would you switch things up once you start competing on rails? Just curious?
Is that the diet your dogs are on when they're pulling on wheels or have you not pulled before?

Thanks,
Andrew

I think I may jump to the once a day plan also. I'll just mix a chicken quarter with some sardines and an egg and once a week replace the sardines with a piece of beef liver. How does that sound? I like the idea of fasting them for one day week. I learned that from an older dogman who says "it keeps the dogs loyal".

Haven't pulled before, will need to get my dog all ripped up and lean as I can.
The feed I have the dogs on now puts weight on, they burn it off in the yard but when the pulling starts I know i'll need to do more for them. So I can see a diet change in the near future.

Canidae all day, raw venison meat and bones when the season comes around but for the rest of the year he only gets canidae all life stages, don't need much more than that

max74

Was feeding Canidae all stages. Just switched over to Kirkland Chicken to try it out. Lets see how that works out. Also feed raw eggs(shell included) w/ flaxseed about twice a week with the kibble. I also alternate for a couple of days with raw chicken quarters.

what did the article state was behind the "vinegar" for use in show dogs? I have read apple cidar vinegar for use as a natural flea repellent, but I am curious to its use specific to show dogs. If the article is on the net can you provide a link?
