weight makes no difference to me as long as the dog has what it takes :) I have them from 45 pounds all the way up to 79 on the chain .. but I would have to say that idealy 55 to 40 is what I would prefer

My Kirby is 42 pounds at 4.5 months. I'm guessing he will be over 60 by the time he is full grown. I'll be happy with him at whatever weight, so long as he is healthy.

I have to say that I voted 60+ but really size isnt that important as long as they are well proportioned. My smallest is about 55lbs and my biggest is about 110lbs but they are proportioned correctly. The biggest one isnt to hard to handle but I sure had to with him on it.

hey BB..this is a dog I use to own. His sire was at tops around 105 lbs.. this dog is conditioned around 90. 100% pure APBT ..no Am Staff in him..
Honestly..this was alot of dog to handle. Thankfully he was a true APBT and loyal to the core..it took alot of training but we had him where he would ignore other dogs unless they were right up on him.. I see all those XXX large pits and its sometimes scary ..alot of people with them dont realize or think that their dog is capable of certain things.. but there is almost no way a person could stop a 100+ pound dog if that dog had its mind set.

Most dogs get the 40-50 lbs. range, yet "grease-dogs" sorta spice things up, in my opinion. Which could bring up the very important topic of "conditioned weight". Isn't it a "science" to calculate that one for each individual dog? The dogs style, wind, air, etc. all being taken into account. "Two lbs. too heavy, one lb. too light,....."A barn-stormer too lite, a deep-winded dog too heavy, on-and-on. To achieve the right answers draws a huge amount of HOME_WORK.This is the love. It can't be bought.

30-40 here.........but probably wouldn't get rid of a nice 55+. ;)
Well I chose 40-50 but I'd really like to have chosen 40-60 LoL my dogs range in weight from 30-63 lbs.
Well, choose 30-40 which is where we prefer them, however have one male who is 50 lbs. He's a little big for my taste...but, as long as they are a BULLDOG...not going to complain too much. ;)

i prefer the 100lbs and plus 190lbs..............sike........for real my yard ranges from 30lbs to 50lbs and it all depends on chain weight so..........that's why it ranges. i do have a 1yr old female that 26 pounds solid and bred really good , strong and can do any job.

30-40lbs for me, easiest to handle, the smaller the cheaper....I'll take a good dog regardless of weight but I preffer the smaller ones and none of those 100lbs (cur)dogs.
I really like the catch weight dogs just for the fact their bigger but not so big they lose the athletic ablility ILL take a 58 pounder and condition to 53 that WILL be an unstoppable dog (of course it is bred right) old timers say "a good little man will ALWAYS lose to a good BIG man" and plus they stiil have the Ability as a 40 pounder

My Baby girl stays between 40-45 pounds. She is very lean and has lots of energy.
i like 30-40 lb dogs my main male is 35 conditioned and my main female is around 28 on the chain. i personally wouldnt keep anything over 55 lbs. too much cost in feed etc.. plus i believe having a large animal is just a ego thing for the ignorant. (no offense i mean ignorant as in not knowing.) i feel the only reason someone would want a dog that big would be to intimidate people. i dont see people being as afraid of a 35 lb dog as they would a 100 lb dog. and i think that is the reason people want these big dogs. also i have never seen a 70lb dog go longer than 15-20 minutes without quiting or of lack of o2 and their tounge start turning blue/purple from being o2 deprived.

I personally prefer the bigger pits. I think they look more better when they have some meat and muscle. Back in the day when I was younger those dogs would toss the smaller pits and pretty much man handle them before their wind would run out. Even when the wind was gone the other pit would be winded, hurt or being layed on under the bigger one. But those days are way behind me.
40-50lb range has the best mix of speed and power IMO
SPEAKING OF SPEED WE GOT GREMLIN AT 35MPH.

American Pit Bull Terriers are not supposed to be big dogs. Actually, the smaller the dog, the better because they are easier to handle, more agile, and faster. It has only been a recent trend for pit bull dogs to be large. A true APBT will not get over 70 lbs and that is extremely rare. People mix in other breeds to get a large dog and then call them pit bulls when, in actuality, they are mutts. Please, stay and learn. There are many people here that have been with the true examples of the breed for many years and they love to help and educate whenever possible. Please be open minded because there are many new members that show up and do not want to accept the fact that what they beleive are pit bulls are actually not. You have alot to learn and you couldn't have picked a better place.

I would say that I like the 32-42 pound pits,so I guess the 30s to 40s range is the closest to my preference, even thogh I have had some that weighed 55 pounds ,I think that the smaller ones are more adgile, quiker.

I like my dogs to be over 55lbs. Most of mine are between 55-65 but every once in a while I throw a freak like Knarl, 90lbs. I would rather have bigger than smaller. I find them easier to handle if you train them right. You don't have to bend over and there's more of them to get a grip on.
