Who is your favorite Champion or Grand Champion dog of the past and why, share with us what made this dog special to you.

For me it has to be Gr.Ch. Buck because for me he showed that gameness can at times count more than a hard mouth or a bigger dog and much more so then the untested hard hitting quick finish dogs that seem so popular today. Buck was a true Gr.Ch. and deserves to be remembered as one of the best.

Adams' Gr Ch Zebo ROM. One of mostly devasting dogs of the bulldog history. He got the 3 greatest honors, ROM, Gr Ch and member of Bulldog Hall of Fame.

And was a great producer too.

Was a dog that had some temperament problems? Yes, but it can't take his merits off him... a great dog and one of the bests I've been notice...

My favs are

Crenshaws - Ch. Rascal
Snakeman's - Gr. Ch. Pedro

Those are my two fav dogs of all time without a dought. I love that they are naturally winded & have hard mouths. Also in breeding that particular line they also poses intelegence extremely smart dogs & very tactical.

Ill name a few because I cant narrow them down.

Gr Ch. Boomerang- He won 5, 3 BIS, first SDJ GR CH.
His longest show went 55 against Teals Tramp and he was a good producer.

Ch. HoneyBunch

Gr CH Art.- One of the most notorious killers that saw a [] and he produced fairly well.

Mountain Mans Ch. Homer- Great all around dog with the mouth of an alligator. He showed to be a very game dog going at 46lbs when he was never matched over 43 lbs and taking over 2 hrs to kill his opponent

Gr Ch. Shady Lady- She wasnt a famous producer, but she was a very talented hard mouth dog.

I'm with Jeep on this one, Homer is my fav. Any dog who can be compared to Zebo for a hard mouth is impressive. I did not know he had that kind of endurance until reading Jeeps post, so I will add that to be impressed with by Homer and Lester!!!!!:)

I'm not doing that.. it should takes all night...

Well, some dogs that wasn't told yet:

STEPP'S GR. CH. ANGUS - one of the greatests performer, recognized as Champion of Champions.

INDIAN BOLIO ROM - need to say anything? He was bred by a Klaus. One of the greatests producer and performer.

DEAD SERIOUS KENNELS' CH. EL DIABLO NEGRO - Great and trully finisher.

TUDOR'S DIBO - Great producer, he sired, for example:
Carver's Cracker
Crenshaw's Buck
Tudor's White Rock 4xW
Tudor's Spike 4xW
Tudor's Jeff 3xW
Trahan's Blackie 3xW
Start (Haye's) Cry Baby 4xW
Boudreaux' Blind Billy
McCraw's Snowball
Harrel's Topper 5xW
Heinzl's Polly
Edward's Sam

KLAUS' ZEKE - Great performer and sired no one less than Indian Bolio ROM. As Eddie Klaus himself ever told "Zeke was a very talented dog." I believe that Zeke wasn't more recognized as the great pit dog that he was, because he sired Bolio.

K. ALLEN'S DBL GR. CH. TORNADO - this bitch was the first Double Gr Ch of the pit history, she was 10xW.

STEPP'S WILLIE - Great performer devastating dog. Son of Adams' Zebo ROM.

... AND THE LIST GOES ON...

However if we talk about the credit and look of a dog I would say I would have with pleasure got to know dogs like for example Andersons Ch. Sugar or Smith&Waltons CH. Campesino . After all I read ,heared and saw (on pics) is also Rebels Ch Sandman one of my Favorites .And, however, for example, Williams Filo was no champion , nevertheless, a first-class Bulldog. However, some dogs dont made it to Ch. although they owned with certainty more gameness than many Ch. For example, Williams Hector. :)

I'm gonna stick with my guns. I have been running inbred/linebred CH. BRISTOL'S THOR dogs for 19 years. Only 17 reported breedings, producing 9 CH's,6 2xw's and 11 1xw's,known to me from my history of the line. Great %'s. Great wrestling skills, hard crunch, smart smart dogs.

Not as popular as most, but I'll go # for # with any line.

For female I would go with GR CH BASS(EDWARDS) MOLLY BEE. Produced 4 CH's,3 2xw's and 2 1xw's in 3 breedings. 2 of the CH's were off one litter out of Snooty.CRUNCH,CRUNCH,CRUNCH

But this is only my opinion,I find the thread, nevertheless, well .:) My reply to your post was not a attack against you, I was just trying to show that sometimes people do not have the opertunity to meet a special boxer or star or dog but they can still admire them for what they have done in their field and can become a fan and know them through other ways then in person.

That said, I do know where you are coming from in that sometimes people just like to jump on the bandwagon of the next big thing...the 'in-bloodline' or popular dog of the moment. I am by no means a expert on these dogs but I try to learn as much as I can about the ones that spark an interest.

I'm glad you are enjoying this thread and thank you for taking the time to post in it...your knowledge is most welcome.

I am basing this on the stories passed down, and the available historical information, but I love the mystique behind crenshaw's ch honeybunch rom (produced great dogs such as jeep and many other ch.'s), and garner's ch. chinaman rom, and colby's pincher (a devastator reported to be matched 24 times, and in louis colby's book of the American pitbull terrier he was quoted as saying that his dad j.p. saying that pincher was the greatest dog he'd seen...that says alot.)

The list of great dogs is long, but if I had to start explaining about gamedogs to someone that had no clue...I'd start with these three!

Colby's Bob-tail Bob 21x W, also produced Mitchell's ( Seaton's Pincher ) 15x W.
J.P. Colby's Pincher was a punisher and a great all around dog but was also a larger dog than most so not sure how many of those battles were evenly matched. He was also used as a try-out dog when J.P. was getting new dogs from England and Ireland, if they could last a few minutes with Pincher the dog was a keeper.

Bob-tail Bob was a smaller dog and was evenly matched for his wins so he gets my vote.

My last male was the last kink tail that came from the Colby's and i can tell ya he was wired like i've never seen before on any dog. Again Pincher was an out standing dog but was mellow and laid back , Bob-tail had very high drive according to Lou. Either dog gets my vote they were both great warriors for thier time.

Where to Start? Well my all time favorite dog is probably Zebo. There is so much to like it's hard to list everything.

Follow that with Going Light Barney. What can I say about this dog other than the fact that he was originally..........blue brindle!? Yep. Richard F. Stratton himself wrote about the gameness of blues back in the day.
From his website:

People with a little experience are quick to denounce Barney and the blue dogs. I would suggest a little caution in that respect. Barney may have not been the greatest dog of his time, but he beat some really good dogs. And not all blue dogs are alike.

I also have respect for Yuebank's CH. Greaser, one of Zebo's toughest matches. This is a match I would compare to Frasier vs. Ali. In his time, Greaser was known as the best 44 pound dog alive and was supposed to take down the "killer" Zebo. To my knowledge, it still stands as Zebo's most famous match, am I wrong?

I also recently read about Tudor's Gr. Ch. White Rock. It is said that he won 5 contract matches in less than a year and was rumored to be the hardest biting dog in the history of the APBT. Hmm, I don't know if I believe the last part, that's hard to prove. I mean the dog was from the fifties, that's a lot of dogs since then.

I agree Zebo was definately a bad a$$...as were his siblings Vindicator and Rosie. I think that the issu that alot of people take to the modern day blue dogs stems from modern day breeding practices. The ideas is that blue is just a color and a good dog is where you find him, but there are people that are trying to capitalize financially on selling blue dogs because of their popularity. Read these good old threads... http://www.game-dog.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17895&highlight=runyon and http://www.game-dog.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17895&highlight=runyon specifically the posts by chatnjack...then there's always the famous 1936 battle in Oklahoma city of Runyon's Colorado Imp, and the foundation of the AKC's Amstaff line.

I dont have any "favorite" GrCh's but here are a few that come to mind when thinking of outstanding accomplishments..

Rebels' GrCh"Sampson".. won 5x taking BIS 5x..Allens'GrCh"Zincer" was one of his opponents that he pulled against..Read somwhere that he was sterile due to being on the bottle his whole career..

Roadblock's GrCh"Joey"..saw on tape where he out pulled GrCh"Texas" and Ch"Waldo"..Also out pulled Ch"Redman"..Definetly a first class bulldog..Voted SDJ DOY in 92..

Denny's GrCh"Bo"..out pulled Groves' Ch"Tank" & Ch"Brute"..Its been said that most people that saw him in action considered him one of the finest at his wt ever..
Rebels' GrCh"Shady Lady"..5 spulls with a total time of under :45 with her longest pull lasting :14..
