JMO, but i believe there are many better, more effective ways of conditioning than walking around for hours.

yes hand walking does alot of good for taking the fat down so you can see the muscle. that is if you don't have a slat or electric mill. running them on the carpet mill should be limited. swimming them in a nearby lake would do alot more good than just walking. i do the flirt pole ALOT! lots of starts, stops, and change direction. it really builds up the muscles nicely. makes them cut in the front end.

do your dogs walk around the box all night? no. what muscle groups are used the most in a contest aginst a hog? shoulder, neck, and jaws. how long do most contests go? 3 hours? no, most are under an hour. not saying walking doesnt play a role, but it isnt a big part and i certainly wont make it the bulk of my conditioning. i think you would be way better off focusing on slat mill work for endurance. carpet mill is more an anaerobic tool. then there is flirting, dragging weights, swimming, etc use your imagination, IMO if you are walking around for 3 hours and im out getting in some serious work, i will be better off than you. again, walking plays a role, in warm up, cool down, emptying, it just wont be anywhere near the bulk of my program. JMO, if you are one of those guys that wants to handwalk for hours on end, be my guest. the fact is there are many ways to condition a dog for a contest, i just consider over doing the hand walking a big ass waste of time.

well you are on the right track for conformation, your dog looks pretty good. as far as weight pull you will need to do more dragging weights, increasing the amount of weight. a carpet mill would be beneficial for that too, in addtion to the weight dragging. do you have a weight pull track? if so even better.
