Tony, Texas Heat Kennels is said to produce good dogs. Yes, they're catchweight. Not every dog can be 45 pounds and under.

Not to say anything about anybody but I was told by an older and wiser man than me about these dogs that the internet is not the place to be checking into and purchasing a true game dog.

Not to say anything about anybody but I was told by an older and wiser man than me about these dogs that the internet is not the place to be checking into and purchasing a true game dog. That is very true.

Catch weight or not I would say going over 60-70 is pointless. 55-60 is large enough. You get them too heavy and you will loose dogs to heat stroke in the summer seasons, hunting at night or not. You can loose not so heavy dogs to but the heavier they are the more they have to tote. Dogs can't sweat.

what you need to figure out and define is what are your needs, wants, and desires out of a dog. what are you going to do with it. and so forth. Then figure out what lines best suit your taste and objectives. Stick to them. Be very picky. get to know the breeder and their behavior. it is a science, learn it first.
then once you know exactly what "true game dog" you are out after, some one will come along and turn you onto that.
