i got in an argument today with a anti-pitbull lady here is her comment that pissed me off!

"I think there are some responsible dog owners, myself included. I breed dogs and have for years. I also know that the dogs that are bad are not bad just because they were taunted. Some of them get out and join it a free for all pack with other loose/strays and go bananas. It happens everyday and if those dogs get out it is the owners problem. If you have a dog you dont feed it raw meat, you socialize it and in my opinion if you have small children or live in a close neighborhood, you do not decide to have dogs like (pit bulls), that is just asking/waiting for a disaster. Look at all the dog bite statistics and you will see the top 3 breeds are usually pit bulls, rotties and shepherds or mastiff breeds. I think this is a matter of opinion, race and goegraphic location. The people that live in really whelthy communities will be for it and the lower income places will be against it. "

nobody said it was a house pet! they said close neighborhoods or if you have kids! and if you think in her line of view anti pitbull bull crap then yeah you make me sick too! cause i know plenty of people that live in close neighborhoods that show their dogs and plenty that have small kids that have them! so go start an issue else where!

My opinion isn't limited to Bulldogs, I don't think any dog that has the tools to be a working dog should be limited to a house wether the dog is a Bulldog, Border Collie or a Malinois.

She's one of our biggest problems as far as the dog community goes (not just pitbulls). She's been "breeding for years"...WHY? She's ignorant...she's probably breeding Little Joey's dog down the street because his eyes are so soulful with her fufu because she's good with kids. Bleh.

As far as working dogs as house pets, I think that it's fine as long as these dogs are with experienced owners who have outlet for their energy giving them a job. I know some people who have border collies as pets that do agility and the dogs are great, I have a neighbor with one that just sits around and gets to play ball when they're bored and he's extremely aggressive. My dogs are pets first, but I direct their energies to other activities (agility, and starting weight pull)

Correct. Some are just "born bad." I had one fruit loop myself. We did everything in the world for her. She was never teased a day in her life & she was still a nut.

Correct. It's well documented & it's called the "pack mentality" An otherwise normal, docile dog gets into a pack of rowdies & behaves as they do.

Correct. It DOES happen everyday. But it is NOT the owner's problem. It is the problem of those who the pack terrorizes! But it's nothing a .22 hollow point can't take care of.

INCORRECT! Here is where things get really stupid. Raw meat does not harm at dog & it does NOT create blood lust. If it did, every mother dog on earth would be raving, ravaging monsters since they consume blood & raw tissue at every whelping (you might want to point this out to your breeder friend. ;) )

INCORRECT! Again, we're back in stupid terrority. According to the latest data gathered, the top dog for FATAL bites is not the pit bull, it's the Rott (pit bulls are 2nd though) & the top biter overall is NOT the pit bull, it's the cocker spaniel!


Look at all the dog bite statistics and you will see the top 3 breeds are usually pit bulls, rotties and shepherds or mastiff breeds.


INCORRECT! The dog bite FATALITES concern those top 3 breeds. Futher, it does not name pit bull by breed, but instead says "pit bull like" dog. This can encompass the APBT, SBT, AST, BT, AB & crosses therof.

So ... if the dog is 7/8ths lab & 1/8th pit bull bites someone, guess what? It goes down as a mark against pit bulls.

"Pit bull like" also emcompasses dogs that are "like" a pit bull - like the Boxer x Lab mix that was mentioned in another thread that could not be distinguished from a pit bull, even by some of the members on this board.

If that dog were to go out & bite someone, guess what? Unless the person who is bitten knows the breed of the dog, it is written down as a pit bull bite b/c the dog is "pit bull like" even though it doesn't have a drop of pit bull blood.

This combines to artificially bloat the stats making pit bulls seem far more dangerous than they are.

Correct. Most wealthy ppl have poodles, chis, cockers, etc. & look at the pit bull as a "trash dog" who should be eliminated. The pit bull is a traditionally blue collar dog.

i agree with you abk but what pissed me off was the whole anti pitbull part of her issue and this whole deal got brought up about the law there are ttrying to pass with if a dog mauls or bites someone you get time in prison etc. etc. and she is all for it so with her being a dog breeder etc apparently she has loose screws to want this to pass!

Just everything she said that was correct, applies to all dogs, not just APBT, which is why I find her whole argument rather odd...Because she seems to acknowledge all dogs have the potential, and then she just narrows it down and places blame mainly on the APBT...It doesn't make much sense to me.

I wouldn't say everything she said was correct - she was wrong on the feeding raw & dog bite stats, but everything other than that was pretty well on.

IMO she seems like one of Attila's "sheeple." Probably doesn't even know a pit bull & just believes what the media spoon feeds to her. :(

i guess you are trying to say i am black, and low class because i own and care for pitbulls! well you are a very stero typical and uneducated person just for these comments! because i am very white and well off and i live in a two story house on 6 acres. i guess since iam put int his category you are one of those BSL supporters! i bet you raise yorkies or poodles dont you! and not to mention 90% of the so called pitbull attacks arent even pitbulls just because it has a big head and stocky normal uneducated to this breed want to say it was a pitbull these dogs are more loyal than any other dog i have ever owned! and i have owned several breeds but always fall back to the pitbull! my pit taught my son how to walk they go every where together and would give his life to make sure no harm was done to him! well folks like you are what give this wonderful magnificent dog a bad reputation and maybe you need to do research on this breed before you are so quick to judge! there are many white mexican and black celebrities that also own this breed so how are you gonna place them in low class! and on the rotties side my cousin has one and they have a 2yr old and not to mention they are very well off and they are against this law too. Well I would say that you are what you think you are. I know more than the typical person about dogs, but thats ok. It worries me to know that there are people like you in the world who think they know so much about dogs. This is the reason people get killed by dogs.

she is really rubbing my ass raw on this and hell i dont even personally know her just for the fact that she is bad mouth ing the PITBULL is a big enough reason! here lately ive been jumping to the deffence of this breed as much as i have my familys deffence in the past but i guess it is because the BSL is hitting so close to home!:mad:
