Hi everyone! I stumbled on this website out of luck and I would like to say it has been the most informative site I have visited. I do not own a dog yet and am just researching as much as possible. I have spent the last 2 months reading through just about every thread on here and thought I should tell everyone thanks. I would like to give a special shout out to Attila, purplepig, 14rock , B and oldtimer. Your posts have been very informative and straight forward.
In looking through other sites I became discouraged by the amount of dogs being bred outside the standard, and this site was a savior. I have always wanted an APBT and one bred to game standards, not an overweight 100lb pig to try and make myself look like a badass. It is troubling to see this fad being pushed but I have realized a large percentage of the world is made up of morons. Now I realize that getting a game bred dog is possible, it will just take lots of research and work, which is great.
I plan on getting an APBT 2 years from now at the earliest. This will only be once I have my own home and the situation will be right for this breed of dog. I am a college student/athlete and most of my time is filled with that now, so I'm going to get my life in order before a dog is brought into the picture. I am very active and will give the dog all the exercise and attention it needs. I realize this will be a lot of work but that is part of the breed.
I was also wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a good book discussing bloodlines, history, training, stories and dogs from the [] and general information about APBT. I'm a broke college student so I can only really afford 1 quality book right now. I know Stratton's books have been suggested among others. So if anyone can recommend anything really good, thank you in advance.
