It's sad but true...a lot of slick mouth idiots in the world. Not too many real dog men on this site. A real dog man doesn't need a pedigree to know a good dog when he see's one. My dog has produced proven dogs with certain outcrosses and so I wanted to see a copy of his father's pedigree to confirm the bloodlines involved. But pet owners wouldn't understand.

Well are you sure the dog you have is even really off Gotti? It does seem weird that you had the dog for 5yrs and didn't know how the dog was bred, seems like the person you got the dog from would had a ped.
It is called being a responsible breeder by keeping track of things like dogs pedigrees. That is why the old timers have been around so long and all these up and coming people don't make it.

A real dog man doesn't need a pedigree to know a good dog when he see's one.No, but it is a lot easier to PRODUCE good dogs if you know what the hell you're working with. That is the whole point of bloodlines. If it was possible to breed good dog to good dog and get good pups without regard to all the dogs blood that goes into those pups any dumbass could consistantly produce great dogs. If that were true there would be no need for pedigrees, bloodlines, line breeding, ect. Yep, I agree, a lot of slick mouth idiots in the world. Good afternoon, slick.

Pitbull 30. I understand what you're saying but you missed my point. I know the breeder personally, I know the breeding was done, therefore I know the dog is from Gotti. I had been told of the bloodlines behind him. I wanted to actually see the exact dogs in the lineage. Now it can't be explained much clearer than that. Back at cha "slick".
Someone sent me the on-line pedigree link so I'm straight now. Also remember, some pedigrees aren't worth the paper it's written on because breeders will lie to make a buck. I prefer to know the breeder personally and be confident of the pedigree.

People can sit there and say my dog is Nigerino, Redboy, Jeep, Chinaman, whatever. It doesn't matter much if their dog is bred down from that dog but everything in front of it is crap.

I agree 100%. That is why it is important to find a good breeder.
I prefer to know the breeder personally and be confident of the pedigree.
It must be hard to be confident in a pedigree you don't fully know.
To be honest why I got pissy wasn't so much that you were breeding a dog whose pedigree you really didn't know (Knowing the sire doesn't count if you don't really know what is behind him.) it was because your 5th post on this site was already bitching about the members. 5 posts in and you already don't like us? Why don't you prove to us that you're a "real dogman" with your vast knowledge and years of experience before you start complaining? Surly you must be an old timer because if you're not that would make you one of the fake dogmen or slick mouth idiots you complain about on this site. JMHO.

Pitbull 30, You're correct I am a dog man from what you call old school. I've been in the game for years and have seen some of the best. I know this breed very well and the most exciting part is there is no guarantee. Put two Gr. CHs together and you could get a litter of curs. It's the game. I've seen dogs that had no papers at all end up true CHs. A lot of old timers didn't register their dogs, for what, they knew how it was bred and could tell you. Their word was good enough. The ADBA is the biggest benefactor of registering ($25 each registration).
Yeah we cool, it's just I own pits and not pets.

I agree with all of that. Thanks for for staying calm and putting up with my crappy temperament. lol. I just get REALLY sick of all the 16 year old kids who come on here acting like they know something. Ya know, "This is a good bloodline" or "That dog was game" when all their info comes from the "net". Or "I bred my dog a few times now can someone tell me how he's bred?" I've seen way too many of those.
BTW, no pets here either. I love them to death but they aren't yard ornaments. :D

JMHOwell, just because someone is new to this site does not mean they need educating. There are plenty of folks who've been involved with this breed for years that haven't even fathomed joining an internet forum. But for a newbie to come on here and make assumptions about the people on this site is pretty ridiculous. Keep widening the rift between pet bull people and game dog folks.....that's a great strategy, for the animal takers that is. United we stand, divided we fall.....

Could be true, but I guess I am highly suspect of someone that does not know the lineage of his own dog, which he implies has been bred more than once......I'm not sayin it has to be on paper, plenty of old time doggers kept their dogs peds locked away in their mental data base, but they damn sure knew what they had and where it came from. Another thing I find odd is most of the experienced dog folks have no issues researching someone elses dog...just by the name, they are familiar with the tools available to them or they know someone that knows something....never seen them come out on a public forum and ask about their own dog????? hhhmmmmmmmmm That addresses my thoughts on how seasoned I assume this person is based on what limited data is available to me...I just think those are some very basic things that don't sound right to me.
As far as puttin folks down, that is another indicator to me that this person or persons are insecure about what they know or don't know so they make thremselves feel better or bigger by trying to make some one else seem lesser....ya know diggin themselves in deeper. I consider them a work in progress for the Game-Dog experts, hopefully they will learn, either what they came to find out and if they are lucky even more...

Pitbull 30, the more you write...the more I see we have in common. Sorry, to the folks who got offended but I'm a firm believer in the game. Follow me on this, Greyhounds bred for racing, Walkers and Blueticks were bred for coon hunting, Beagles were bred to hunt rabbits, American Bulldogs are bred for hog hunting, Pointers flush birds, Jack Russells were bred to hunt rats, so on, so on, and just as the names says.....PIT bulls.
If you want a pet get a Cocker Spaniel...oh yeah by the way that was also originally a bird hunting breed until man destroyed it.

I don't beleave half of hat i see on paper. and that inculdes my own dogs. A good pit dog is just that a good pit dog. a peace of paper doesn't add or take away what he is in the []. and a good producer is that a good producer. the only way you'll find out anything is if you try it out and see if it works. and he's right Pet owners don't understand. Should a race horse that was bred to go on the race track be put in a pet home?
I might be missing your point but we all have the right to say/do what we please as long as it doesn't infringe on others Rights and Liberties.

God BlessThen you better stop and check your own self because his comments were an insult to the "relatively few" doggers on this site - do you wonder how he knows this --- I sure do????????. I've already explained the ped comment. And chill with the "pet owner" crap already. It doesn't take a dogger to understand what is required to keep this breed true, and it is insulting to be told so. Hell even my teenage daughter understands this breed, it's history and whats required for it's survival. It's called an open mind and just a tad of intelligence.
As far as owning a professional Qtr horse I think there is a great post about other uses for it in another thread, read it....this time with an open mind.
Here:
To me it is the equivalent of saying that if you own a quarter horse and you dont race your horse in the quarter mile race and cull all the horses that cant run a record breaking mile you are a pet quarter horse owner. No matter if you do barrel-racing, roping, therapy or english jumping with your Quarter Horse.
And for someone who is all up in arms about others not infringing on his rights and liberties you are a walking contradiction, I guess to your way of thinking I can own as many game dogs that I want AS PETS as long as I don't piss in your corn flakes....right?
The gentleman that started this post came off as ignorant and offensive, and it doesn't take being a pet owner to recognize that. I don't know if he is a seasoned dogger...but I damn sure doubt it based on his question alone! And I guess in the final analysis as long as he cleans up his own messes I don't give a rats a**.

While I do understand your point of view, I disagree. It would be easier to understand if their original purpose was still legal....like walkers and coon hunting. Time changes things....what these dogs were created for that was perfectly legal then is now illegal. There are plenty of legal activities that our dogs can participate in. I do not believe that a person should not own an APBT simply because they are not willing to participate in illegal actions.

There was no mention of how the doggers that frequent this site keep their dogs pedigrees...primarily because I bet no one knows....but your boy seemed to feel comfortable making a BS judgement based ON NO knowledge of this site and who comes here. He is SO knowledgable about his own dog that he couldn't talk to who he got him from or use an on line ped tool or do some research on his own, he asked the doggers here to HELP him and then insulted them. No one here that keeps this breed true gives a sh*t about the paper, so I don't know why that is stuck in your head, but they are dilligent about KNOWING. You just keep on doin your thing, I guess the only concern here, as with us stupid ole pet bull owners, don't f*ck it up for the rest, because that is everyones concern.
