By far the MOST puppy peddled line in the history of the APBT by someone who does not work and lives off his dogs breeding puppies to puppies. I have followed CA Jack for many years online and he has always disgusted me with his breeding practices. He is someone who has at least 15-20 litters every year and probably more.

I dought he is getting out of the dogs. He has a "yard reduction sale" at least a couple times a year because he knows he can charge higher prices for young adults and adults than he can for puppies.
He is the biggest BSer "salesman" you will ever meet in the dogs with his OUTRAGEOUS claims of how good his dogs are and how well his dogs produce. Anyone who breeds and sells as many puppies and dogs in the sheer numbers as he does is bound to have a good dog once in a while. He has stolen alot of money from people over the years from his defunct magazines, copied books and even admitted to stealing a dog at gun point by someone who owed him money. Jacks dogs all come down from Pat Patrick dogs. Go to Pat's website and see what he thinks of CA Jack.

Just my opinion because I have watched him online for about 10 years now.

Aside from CA Jack being the biggest puppy-peddlin' mofo out for the last few years, the Poncho line has produced some good dogs..... you should definetly do a forum search to find out more info.....

(Don't support puppy peddlers by getting dogs from them.)

Cliff - With all due respect, I find your assessment of CA. Jack strangely ironic in it's harshness, since the person who bred & sold you Girly (C. Otwell of Tightline Kennels) does the exact same thing.

Yet you do not speak on that.

I have seen some really good Poncho dogs, I am not sure if I would get one from him unless it was a pup. I know people that use his stuff and it is good stuff.

Tightline has never shown a dog, not a dogman. Jack has at least conditioned and shown a few and his dogs have had teeth in them unlike Tighlines paper bred pets

and yes Tightline does the exact same thing Cliff is crying about but Cliff bought dogs from Tightline so I guess it doesnt count, lol

Jack's dog are a mix of Patrick dogs and some May Day blood. To be honest I like the Patrick Line and think it is funny how the Patrick's bash most people that are successfully producing dogs that come down from their line, that makes no sence to me, that is like General Motors bashing Pontiac, same stuff just different name.

Yeah, I find that silly as well.

But back to Poncho dogs - ppl like to bad-mouth Jack, but I have never heard a bad thing about his dogs & most folks who have them seem quite pleased. At least the ones I talked to were.

thats why i was trying to get some opinions, im not thinking about getting a dog from him, i just wanted to see what some people here thought about him, or if anyone has dealt with him personally. i know alot of people bash him and about the patricks opinion on him but they seem to have a negative opinion about alot of people and i have heard good things about his dogs as well.

To tell you the truth, California Jack actually cares alot about his dogs and has a high confidence in them(as any breeder would). They appear to be well taken care of and worked. His stock use to be very good, but I'm not too sure how well the current stock of dogs are producing and competing.

It's nice to see people here that aren't all about jumping on the "I hate Jack"-"Jack is a peddler band wagon"!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've seen dogs from Jacks yard and they are on the whole, extremely athletic with great structure, temperament, and they perform!
The nay sayers can bash Jack, but I know first hand that the man breeds athletes.

There are quite a few winning dogs coming down from the Poncho line and Poncho crosses... The are quite a few people using that blood now.

This is the same thing I've heard from different people. Also heard CJ doesn't handle the dogs and just sells them off. He claims to have the most winningest blood out there. But no facts to back up his 300+ wins. No match reports or dog men coming out to say what they won and what dog was used. And, I don't know if it's true or not, but that Poncho was a great dog, but lost do to poor handling/conditioning by CJ.

You have to remember that CJ take credit for wins that don't even come directly off his dogs (dogs he bred).. i.e. you could have Poncho in the 3rd generation and after that nothing from his yard, if that dog wins he still counts it a one of his.

For anyone who doesn't check his site, notice nearly all his dogs are for sale. CJ says he is getting out of breeding dogs, to focus on writing books and such. If I had the room, I wouldn't mind getting a few to see for myself what the deal is. The working kennels I've talked to with this blood, love it, regardless of the controversy surrounding Poncho, and the breeder. About the only bad things I've heard of the dogs themselves, is they are pretty small, and don't have very long lifespans.

im not really up to date on the whole CA jack issue, but its not like he's the only one breeding multiple litters in a years time, we've already discussed this and some other kennels have been named that are very popular and do the same thing. IMO i like the way his dogs look and if there's any truth behind what he writes about his dogs it seems like some of them are pretty damn good performers and i wouldn't mind getting a few myself if i had the time and money

I still wouldn't buy a dogs from him but their are plenty of other people that carry that blood that make just as good or better crosses. Like I said before there are quite a few winning dogs coming down from the Poncho line and Poncho crosses.

if their are health problems which are mainly siezures come from the Coca Cola blood and Coca Cola was bred by PAT PATRICK, go figure
